Fresh from his EP on CIA, Kublai returns to the Fat with two gorgeous slices of exquisite liquid funk.

‘Landscapes’  opens with a filtered piano followed by a snappy two-step break before a simple but bewitching bassline fills the surrounding space. Kublai’s friend and collaborator Note turns up to add his own emotional depth with some beautiful vocal stylings. Whilst listening I’m transported to a magical peaceful landscape of the mind where I’m gliding effortlessly through peaks and valleys like a character from a Myazaki film. Sublime!

‘Before I Leave’ has a similar vastness about it but this time it feels slightly more uneasy. Kublai sure knows how to pick complimentary sounds. Whether it's his sinister keys, flutes, pitched up vocals or vibraphones he makes sure they each have their space to work their magic against his airtight beats and enveloping bass lines. Other-worldly!

The release kicks off with the hypnotic sounds of the title track, “Instant Connection.”  The song is highlighted by steady ticking drums, warping keys, edgy mid-basslines, and a mesmorizing backdrop os synth pads and strings. “Fuzzy Buzz,” is up next and drifts along with its warm piano chords, crunchy drums, rolling sub-bassline, and ethereal vocals.  “Find Me,” is up next and captures a more dance floor vibe with its reese baseline, epic vocals, drenched backdrop, and stripped down drum pattern.  Dan Guidance lays down the wicked Liquid/Jungle vibes in the track, “This is the Last Time.”  The track blends wandering horn riffs, echoing vocals, and a warm sub-baseline, falling underneath a choppy Jungle break.  “When There’s Soul,” rounds things out in style with its echoing piano keys, airy pads, snappy drums, and bouncing bassline.  Dan Guidance continues to make a name for himself in the production scene.  The Instant Connection EP will further expose the listeners to the magical production skills that he possesses.
