03 In The Land Of The Blind

Don is retired from a twenty-one year career with the Premiere Jazz Ensemble of the United States Air Force, The Airmen of Note.  He now teaches at McDonogh School located northwest of Baltimore. 
Don's professional music career spans over 45 years.  At age 13, he started playing his saxophone on gigs.  He led high school bands and participated in the Mummer's String Band Parades in Philadelphia.  As he entered his college years, Don attended Berklee College of Music as a saxophone performance major.  He then earned his B.S. in Music Education from West Chester University.  Don performed, toured and recorded with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, traveling internationally to perform the popular music of the Big Band era.
Throughout Don's music profession, he has had many opportunities to play with excellent musicians and bands.  He also has performed in famous venues such as The White House (as seen above), Carnegie Hall and The Kennedy Center to name a few.  Recently Don joined Livingston Taylor on stage as well in a student musicians clinic.  Don was a part of theRadio King Orchestra swing band that performed on the popular TV series *The West Wing*.
