S: Reamz it's a pleasure to have you on our SIMPLYDUBS mix series. Tell us more about this mix? 

R: Thanks man, always happy to get involved with Simply Deep. When I was asked to put this all productions mix together, I wanted to take the opportunity to showcase the varied sounds and styles that I’ve been dabbling with over the past few years. The tracks I’ve chosen are a mix of my personal favourites (either released or not) and a couple of newer bits that will be coming over the next few months. I can’t really say a lot more than that as things as still finalised, etc. 

S: What is your personal favourite track from this mix and why?

R: This is a little more difficult. If I had to pick just one, I would probably go with the last track ”2 Seconds”. In terms of technicality & sound design, this is probably the most complex production I’ve ever made. I believe the final project clocked in well over 200 channels. The track name is actually an inside joke, as I was constantly telling myself “yea, I’ll add that, it’ll only take 2 seconds…”, a month later it was finished.

S: Tell us a little more about Real Eyes Records, how did this come into existence and have you got any upcoming releases you can tell us about?

R: Real Eyes Records was the brain child of myself & Flipz MC. Initially, we set it up to create a platform that we could use to showcase all of the amazing UK hip-hop we were hearing & making at the time. We had always been interested in starting a record label ourselves but felt the 140 scene was already a little saturated. Our first & only release was an EP entitled “Shadow Puppets” from a sick MC called Intuitive. It came out and did well but unfortunately real life got in the way, and we never managed to find time to follow it up. Since then we’ve re-evaluated the direction of the label and have been quietly working at building a collection of music that we are incredibly excited about. This time round, there’s no specific genres or styles. Just music that makes us gassed. We have our first digital release coming in the next month or so, which is a smooth 140/hip-hop track from myself & Flipz MC. We may also be running a cheeky remix contest for this…so watch this space. 

S: What are the creative differences between your two aliases Reamz & Kameron? (minus the obvious answer: BPM)

R: Creatively, I would say there isn’t a whole lot of difference between the two. Anything I make at 140 will always be “Reamz", purely because that’s what I’m known for. However, I have always enjoyed making music that doesn’t adhere to genre stereotypes, which is why the Kameron alias was born. It’s really gratifying being able to put music out there without people having a preconceived notion of what it’s going to sound like. 

S: What's one of your goals/ambitions as a Producer/DJ that you would like to accomplish in the near future?

R: In all honesty, production was & still is something that I just love doing. I’ve never treated it as a potential career so anything I’ve accomplished through my music has just been a bonus really. That being said, one of my main ambitions nowadays is to use my production knowledge to help push other artists through Real Eyes. Providing mix down advice, mastering releases, producing instrumentals for vocalists, etc. I’ve always preferred working in the background as opposed to the spotlight. 

S: What's one of your best memories from producing/Djing?

R: Since production mainly involves sitting in my pants alone in front of my computer, I’ll have to go with DJing for this one. My best memory was probably the second time I played in Ukraine. It was my first time travelling abroad solo, and I was only 18/19 at the time. The entire trip was fucking insane start to finish, you know, being Ukraine and all but the promoter and the team out there went above & beyond to look after me. Definitely a weekend I’ll never forget.
