London based DJ/Producer 'Sol Brown' is definitely a name you should be looking out for... Over the last 15 years Sol has been gracing the decks at some of London's most renowned nightclubs. From west London's Supperclub to east London's legendary Turnmills and Herbal, from north London's Egg club to south London's Ministry of Sound. During this time he's also held down DJ residencies in various other UK cities including Bristol, Cheltenham and Nottingham whist at the same time presenting weekly radio shows on London's UnknownFM and HouseFM.

Sol's production career kicked off in 2012, releasing under the guise 'Social Society' (a joint production collaboration with DJ friend Nat Wendell). Their debut release 'Just Fine' featured the outstanding vocal talent of Atlanta based songstress Stephanie Cooke. The record quickly caught the attention of Phil Asher and before long was released on London's legendary label - Restless Soul Music. Since then Sol's been busy in the studio advancing his production skills and working on numerous projects and remixes with the likes of Angela Johnson, Hanlei, Nicole Mitchell, Taliwa, Jaidene Veda, Lady Alma, Selina Campbell, Sacha Williamson, Lester Jay, Angel-A, the list goes on. You can currently find Sol's music worldwide on record labels including Rhemi Music, Quantize Recordings, Tony Records, Groove Odyssey, Makin' Moves, Restless Soul, Things May Change, Uno Mas Digital and more. If you haven't managed to catch one of his DJ sets lately, your most likely to catch him at Londons's Ministry of Sound, where he's held down a 6 year strong residency for Groove Odyssey.

Music wise, the next few years look set to be very busy for Sol. With releases set to drop on multiple records labels, the birth of his own record label and multiple DJ sets lined up both in the UK and abroad, the futures defiantly looking bright for Sol Brown.

Born in Naples (Italy) in 1971, since he was a child, Andrea quickly developed a deep interest to music. At age of 9, his father brought him his first keyboards. He started to play and arrange by himself his own songs, influenced by the funky, soul & disco vibes of artists such as George Benson, Earth Wind &Fire, Kool & The Gang, Stevie Wonder, The Jackson Five and all Motown artists. At age of 13, he started djing on his first turntables Technics SL 1200 and an Outline mixer. He used to play at home and for his friends at private parties. In the nineties, he started to follow the underground movement born in the United States. He was captivated by the life of artists like Larry Levan, David Mancuso and Nicky Siano and in the coming years by their heirs Frankie Knuckles, François Kevorkian, Danny Krivit, Tony Humpries and many more. Since then, he began his musical research that headed him to some historical records stores in town. He played in some important clubs in Naples and Greece. Eclectic and creative, today Andrea is proposing his own music influenced by deep, soulful, jazzy & afro beats.

First Word Records was born in 2003 as a collaboration between myself (Aly Gillani - at that time a club promoter) and deejay Andy H. Frustrated by not seeing the music we loved get the exposure it deserved, we decided that there was a gap that needed filling. As the year came to an end a group of musicians, deejays, designers, emcees and producers had come together to cook up the fresh new sound of "Two Syllables", our debut compilation that was released in April 2004, preceded by a split 12" from Homecut Directive (ft Corinne Bailey Rae) and Tommy Evans.

Since then, the label has grown to house numerous artists, including Children Of Zeus, Tawiah, Kaidi Tatham, Allysha Joy, Eric Lau, Darkhouse Family, Tall Black Guy, Souleance and Quiet Dawn. The sound of our output has developed as we have as individuals – but the foundation is rooted in Hip Hop, Jazz and Soul.  This is music that's equally at home in the clubs as it is leaking out of your late-night headphones. Like Duke Ellington said - "If it sounds good, it is good".
