Written about my Daddy, Harry C Thomas, who passed away in 1997. This was the second song I ever wrote, and the first song I wrote during a Jimmie Dale Gilmore Songwriting Workshop at Esalen Institute.

Back to Me

You'd think I'm super lonely. The thing about therapeutic songwriting is that sometimes, like with song, once I turned my issue into a song, like LONELINESS in this one, I let go of all loneliness and give my word it's been gone for many years now. Yay!

Loneliness Blessed

I was blessed to be able to sing this directly to my mom at an Open Mic when she visited me in Big Sur, where I lived at the time.

Mama

Another song written about my beloved Daddy's passing. 19 years later, this song would again bring me solace when my 40 year old son Harry, my only child, was killed in a car accident. I would sing this song using "Where Are You Now Son". It was healing. The photo is of the two of them many years before they both departed.

Where Are You Now Dad

My only child Harry loves his only child, Austin.

Harry sadly passed in 2016. He's deeply missed by Austin and I, and many others.

Harry Becomes A Dad

I loved country visits with my Grandpa. I can see him so clearly in his old 'pole shed' (basically a metal roof on poles) with his tractor and tools and dog and cats. When I returned to his old place after he died the roof of his old shed had collapsed almost to the ground. I was very moved, hence the first line of this song - - "Your old shed's tin roof fell down

Goodbye Daddynorman

I spend about half the year in an RV, going from friend to family to special spots I love (Maine, FL Keys...) I have a magical spot, with special people, in Carrollton the rest of the time. I spent my work life in a world of psychology, growth and spirituality.  At the core of all my work (with kids and adults of all ages) has been encouraging the willingness and courage to ask "Who Am I REALLY?" which can lead to the discovery of deeper, more authentic parts of ourselves than our unintentional brainwash since birth may have led us to believe we are. Authenticity Heals. As does music. And meditation. And Gratitude. And Service.
