When a brand new @Outplay release lands in our digital mailbox we drop everything and get it straight on the LV office sound system. When it's by one of the label co-bosses @junktionmusic we know that we are in for a treat. We've been fans of his since way back before the current iteration of Le VIsiteur Online existed. Safe to say that he lived up to the office hype as we dropped the needle on this package.

Moving away from his traditional cool as you like house and deep house vibes he has delivered up a scorcher of a disco edged house EP in the shape of Tributes. Our premier today is the funky as hell 'I Got Somebody'. It's a groover for sure, with acid licks, subtle keys and some very classy vocal samples providing plenty of dancefloor verve. Smooth and delightful. Reissue number three for Heels & Souls Recordings combines the Balearic bliss of Paprika Soul’s, ‘Come With Me’, with Soft Sugar’s dream house gem ‘Métro’ and an unreleased version of the tripped-out groover ‘Swampin'. A cherry picking of the best of three rare and sought after ‘90s EPs from the minds of High Wycombe’s Alan Barnes, Andrew Spiller and Andrew Hughes.

As anthemic as they get, Paprika Soul's 'Come With Me (Sea Breeze)' is an otherworldly electronic interpretation of Tania Maria’s beloved Brazilian jazz funk classic from '83. Vocalist Sarah Newell's unique delivery combines with a euphoric blend of Barnes’ and Spiller’s crisp drum machine programming and cosmic synthwork. Complete with crashing waves and Balearic birds, it’s a timeless, endorphin-tingling track that feels even more relevant than ever. The A-side also features the brilliant street soul flavoured ‘The Chill’ mix and the ‘Bossa Mix’, the most true in form to the original.

On the flip you’ll find Soft Sugar’s dream house flavoured ‘Métro (Funk Mix)’, Barnes and Andrew Hughes’ homage to time spent cruising the Parisian train system. Barnes’ favourite of their joint-productions, it blends that riviera feel of classic M1 stabs and sweeping pads with a dreamy bassline and stuttering breaks. Flying under the radar at the time, it’s since become hot property for the eagle-eyed digger out there.

Closing out the B, an unreleased, alternate version of Soft Sugar’s slung-back ‘Swampin’ from their Basement Records House Department EP. Mesmerizingly smooth, the 110bpm house-groover busts the brain with wigged out chants and intoxicating arpeggiations.

Fully licensed from Alan Barnes and remastered by Cicely Balston, 20% of profits from Heels & Souls Recordings and Prime Direct Distribution will be donated to Zaatari Radio – a humanitarian collective working with war-affected communities around the world.

Love Edit es un proyecto independiente, nacido para difundir el amor. Con una primera edición sin demasiada ambición, consiguió un feedback muy positivo, que fue la gasolina perfecta para animar a continuar este proyecto.

Pero, ¿quiénes están detrás de este proyecto? Baume, un DJ, productor y mánager de sello francés, decide lanzar esta idea, con el deseo de entregar pistas que ama, rediseñadas para la pista de baile en forma de edits incendiarios. Ha producido la edición y trabajo en toda la gestión y comunicación. Pero es con la valiosa ayuda de Noyo_Chromatic, el diseñador gráfico oficial, quien ofreció una fuerte identidad visual.

A lo largo de los años, el «love edit» sigue resonando en todo el mundo. Tiene un gran apoyo y comunidad, formado por oyentes y también DJs. Y para ellos, tienen muchas ganas de hacer evolucionar el proyecto, seguir compartiendo el amor que la gente necesita.

Para esta novena edición especial, han creado nuestro primer « All Star », e invitamos a tantos productores talentosos, de Francia, pero también de Londres y Bruselas. Love Edit esta muy orgullosos de ellos, por el edit que han producido y por las hermosas personas que son.

Welcome to the fourth chapter of the ELASTE series!
In this compilation I am progressing a style I am inaugurating: Vintage Futurism.

The best metaphor for this genre is Charanjit Singh's 1982 album Ten Ragas to a Disco Beat in which he created a sound which mirrors, but more importantly pre-dates, the first acid house record by five years. It is no novelty record, but truly capturing the hypnotic potential of acid/house music. It became my key track for Elaste Volume 4.
Previous incarnations of Elaste have aimed to catch the spirit of the late 70’s Italian Cosmic Discotheque, a place where the history of DJing was rewritten within this microcosm. For this latest instalment I was most intrigued by weird of-the-time (or ‘out-of’ as the case turned out to be) electronic disco, a vast genre!

Bringing together those progressive avant-garde tracks that were expanding the genres of house, disco, acid, new wave; and ultimately use Elaste as a vehicle to highlight those tracks that were ahead of their time. These legendary works ranges from 1978 to 1996, a wide spectrum of musical history, in which some of the older tracks may sound modern, and newer ones sound may sound vintage.

Many of these authentic back-to-the-aural-future moments were initial sparks for whole genres - Larry Heard ́s Disco-D alias happened just before house music. Greg Wilson’s 1984 project Equip was produced for a UK Electro compilation, but never made the LP, because it sounded simply too futuristic. Michael Rinder ́s Gluttony can’t be called Disco any more, not even Post-Disco.

For Elaste Vol. 4 we have built Vintage Futurism as a home for these ultramodern mavericks.

About Dompteur Mooner
Mooner stepped into the limelight as part of Zombie Nation, whose 1999 smash hit 'Kernkraft 400' was signed to DJ Hell's Gigolo label and earned worldwide chart success. As one of the most knowledgeable experts in obscure vintage electronic music, Mooner however decided to do things a little less obvious from that point on: He left Zombie Nation and founded Erkrankung durch Musique, a label dedicated to releasing left-field electronica, from techno to experimental pop, old and new.

He also a highly regarded DJ, known for his unmatched record collection and bootleg edits, such as his „Girls Girls Girls“ Ep that combined great 80s girl bands as extented edits, or „Greatest Hits“, an hommage to dance – orientaed Rock music.

Mooner just finished his fourth chapter of „Elaste“, a compilation series for Compost Records that started the Cosmic Disco hype.

We don’t really know Bruno “Patchworks” Hovart’s secret but we’re always thrilled to get a taste of his proven production skills. After two acclaimed LP’s as Mr President released over the last decade, the Disco ruler is back with some groovy ideas to put the country into clubs again. One Night is indeed a shiny celebration of the genuine spirit of Soul and Disco, always coming with Bruno’s modern touch, fitting all the criteria to become an instant club classic.


From start to end, Mr President’s blend of grooves and subtle jazz harmonies brings a definitive Roy Ayers’ feeling to the compositions. Developing his vision along six titles, Mr President certainly knows how to produce hits for modern dancefloors. Just like on his previous albums, Bruno plays most instruments, when not even singing catchy vocals. One more time, he also brought incredible lead singers in the studio, some you may know from different projects already released on Favorite Recordings, like Jennifer Zonou (Hawa), Cindy Pooch & Celia Kameni (Saving Coco) and Sabba MG (Mr President’s previous releases). Thanks to exciting arrangements, they carry the songs to a certain climax which reminds the great US era of disco and house divas. Along the original compositions, Mr President also tackles the challenge of covering Roy Davis Jr. & Peven Everett’s house anthem “Gabriel”, bringing the track into even deeper jazz territories.

Of course you may know Mr President from his previous LPs, Number One (2011) and Hips Shaking (2014), however you might also know him under many of his other projects, such as Voilaaa, The Dynamics, Uptown Funk Empire, Metropolitan Jazz Affair or Taggy Matcher to name just a few. Patchworks has been a ubiquitous artist since more than 25 years now, from the House years in the nineties to his recent involvement on different Favorite’s releases like Joao Selva, Pat Kalla, or the last EP of Leroy Burgess & Saving Coco. More globally, through all these years and various projects, Bruno “Patchworks” Hovart’s established himself as an unequalled producer, both in term of quantity and quality.
