@editamusic 's ninth release is the work of the brilliant and versatile German producer @saschafunkeofficial , known for having created different styles over the years with an absolutely unique and well-defined touch. The track he chose is Pump up The Volume, a single by the British group M.A.R.R.S. from 1987, considered by many to be a true monument of the Dance scene. The way Sascha reinterpreted it is wonderful, making it a bomb that changes skin for its entire duration.

Feines Tier veteran Johannes @klingebiel introduces @franz-matthews to the family and together they bring us “Ce Moment” EP, a basket of tunes full of colorful harmonies, bouncy grooves and poetic French lyrics. What more could one wish for?
The two producers and multi-instrumentalists met some years ago in their chosen
hometown Berlin and decided to fuse their producing and multi-instrumentalism game.
The first fruit of this labor was the much-loved and -played “Signs” on Heimlich records, now being followed by this EP here.
The title tune is an amalgamation of groovy electric bass riLs, spicy Prophet synth
sounds, melancholic vocals and certainly has something of that magic ingredient
people call the French Touch. A good tune to pick for House DJs who dig some Disco now and then and for Disco DJs in need of some solid House.
“La Traversée” is a crossing (multi-language pun intended) of bazillions of quirky synth sounds and melodies that somehow form a coherent whole, the sum of its part being a light and friendly but not cheesy house tune, that will make the sun go up on any dancefloor.
The mighty Kompakt overlord @michael-mayer-kompakt takes “Ce Moment” under his spell. The result is a grander and more mysterious aLair, made for bigger and darker dancefloors. The Sound of Cologne™ this is indeed!
Parisian up-and-comer @shimon-earthly adapts „La Traversée” into his sonic world. When Matthews and Shimon discussed the finished remix on the phone in French, all that le dilletant Johannes could understand from it were the words “très cool” and “after-hour vibe” , which… yes, completely tracks!

After ten years of building a reputation as one of Mexico’s most distinctive voices in electronic music, Theus Mago
reveals his long-awaited debut album ‘MUN/SEA’, landing on 6th June 2025 on DGTL Records.

‘MUN/SEA’ is a genre-defying journey through sound, emotion, and identity. The album spans ten tracks and reflects a sonic departure for Theus Mago, whose earlier work was often defined by dark, club-focused tones. Here, he embraces a broader palette—from playful, wide-eyed synth adventures like ‘Do Androids Dream Of Dinosaurs?’ to the breakneck club energy of the rave-charged single ‘The F-Train’. Also featured, tracks such as ‘Casa Furiosa’, a dynamic, percussive-heavy standout, showcase Mago’s talent for creating tension-filled, dancefloor-ready moments across a kaleidoscopic and absorbing journey.

Deeply personal and creatively expansive, ‘MUN/SEA’ serves as a “disguised homage” to Theus Mago’s three-year-old son, who contributes vocals on the whimsical yet heartfelt ‘Kuni Kuni’. That influence is felt throughout the album’s expressive, colourful, playful and often cinematic tone. “The album has its ups and downs, its bright moments and dark moments. Just like parenthood,” Mago—real name Mateo—explains.

Built primarily with digital tools but enriched by carefully placed modular synths, ‘MUN/SEA’ balances technical precision with emotional depth. Vocal elements and spoken word passages add further texture and storytelling, creating a vivid listening experience that blurs the lines between the dancefloor and the personal.

Theus Mago first launched his project in 2014 while immersed in Paris’ leftfield electronic scene, drawing inspiration from acts like David Shaw and The Beat, La Mverte, Yan Wagner, and It’s a Fine Line. Now based in Mexico City, a decade later, ‘MUN/SEA’ represents both a return to those creative roots and a bold step forward, offering a perfectly punctuated statement of artistic evolution.

Say Something Sick

Andrew Weatherall's first official posthumous mix. The only b2b DJ Harvey ever agreed to. Six hours at Trouw. This one's special.

When mulling which direction to go in for RA's 1000th mix celebrations, many options came to mind. Some shadowy character 2-stepping around the fringe of our collective consciousness? An impossible-level IDM icon?

All tempting. But, ultimately, we are a DJ-forward publication and this is a DJ mix series. It felt truer to the history of the RA Podcast to release deep vault material from a time when the world of niche records felt different, tighter, more discrete.

The fourth-longest mix in the series' history is an unrepeatable marathon set recorded in 2012 at a superclub that no longer exists. 2012, incidentally, is farther away from 2025 than 2012 was from 2000... if we have to clock it, so do you.

It's the coming together of one British icon who passed away in 2020, and another whose time on the road has scaled back considerably as of late. DJ Harvey agreed to exactly one b2b set in his life: this one, with Andrew Weatherall.

The night took place at Trouw, an Amsterdam club already considered legendary before it shuttered its doors in the opening hours of 2015, as part of an RA series anchored around start-to-close combinations. Harvey was at the peak of an irresistible career second act, which dovetailed with a disco revival that dominated clubs for years. Weatherall, with infinite brownie points stockpiled from the '90s, remained everyone's favourite debonair psychonaut. 

What follows is 385 scintillating minutes of arpeggiated chug and slow-cresting climaxes: a moment when the resting heart rate of dance floors plunged lower than any comparable point in the 21st century. A masterclass, entirely self-contained in audio form.

If you've got time to spare, a fun side game is sussing out who plays what. A disco-dub cover of Echo & the Bunnymen? Smart money's on Weatherall. Exuberant EQ'ing of The Isley Brothers? Gotta be Harvey. As for the low 'n slow, lightly spangled house that was all the rage in the early 2010s (think Maxxi Soundsystem, Disco Bloodbath, Rub & Tug, C.O.M.B.I. and Full Pupp), it's anyone's guess. 127 BPM feels practically like an F1 car.

When we kicked off our RA.1000 campaign, we outlined a few goals: tick off a handful of long-awaited dream guests, honour architects who shaped the world around us and deliver recordings you truly can't hear anywhere else. Full send.

DJing and the mythmaking around it has undergone a quantum leap since 2012, let alone 2006, 1996 or 1989. For those of us who were kicking around in the former, there's a creeping melancholy that our prime is fast becoming a matter of historical record. The killing moon really did come too soon. 

Where will electronic music, DJ sets or any of this be in 2044? Hard to say. Best not to overthink that one. Instead, we want to say thanks to all contributors on the series so far.
