To mark their 15th anniversary, Phuture Shock Musik are proud to present 'Phuture Past: 15 Years of Phuture Shock Musik', a special compilation celebrating fifteen years of boundary-pushing,  groove-laden sounds - spanning house, broken beat, UK bass and beyond – which taps into the past, present and future of the Bristol record label’s ever-evolving catalogue; including tracks by the many artists that have helped towards shaping the sonic identity of Phuture Shock Musik thus far.
 
Ahead of the compilation’s full-length release (TBA early 2026), will be a limited vinyl-only sampler featuring 4 brand new cuts lifted from the album by PSM alumni Trinidadian Deep, Karmasound, Yuu Udagawa and Sentinel 793, offering an early taster of the project and showcasing the rich diversity of the label's output.
 
Getting things underway on the sampler’s A side is Trinidadian Deep with the afro-deep vibrations of ‘Anger Wave’, a track built around a lilting soca-esque bassline that skanks thru an intoxicating mix of dreamy pads, cosmic synth solos and tech-infused stabs, entwined with tribal chants, and over shuffling, percussion-rich rhythms, altogether taking you on a spiritual high. Next up is Karmasound who contributes the Rhodes-drizzled ‘Puzzles’, his first new material on PSM in five years, which is a rather contemplative broken beat jam suited for those quiet twilight moments as the sun sets, full of twinkling, jazz-inflected chords executed with smooth-as-butter delicacy and underpinned by stuttering MPC-driven beats and slinky bass grooves.
 
Over on the flip is Yuu Udagawa with the glacial tones of ‘Prismatic Time’, a mesmerising, synth-laced electro fantasy, propelled by hard-hitting 80s analog beats and complete with trippy vocals that ramble thru a dizzying whirlwind of icy synth arpeggios channeling the kosmische heights of Tangerine Dream. Rounding out the action on a seemingly mellow tip is Sentinel 793 with ‘Yer Rite’, a left-leaning bruk ‘n bass chugger, prickling with metallic clangs and sweetened up with jazzy overtones via serene keys and mystical flute loops, before things take a heavier turn with an onset of stomping techno-inclined kicks and enough discordant bass growls to make you screw up your face – in a good way, of course.

[PSMC15YRS] Karmasound - Puzzles

Two hours of selections from one of dance music's most beloved record labels. Much has been written about the X-rated ghetto house records that Dance Mania is famous for – the label is often referred to as "ghetto house's Motown" – but the bigger picture of the label is that of the evolution of Chicago house music in a microcosm. From label founder Jesse Saunders' early house and freestyle-tinged productions in the mid-1980s, to smoky deep house in the early 90s, and into the ghetto house that would lay the foundations for juke and footwork moving into the 2000s.
