French producer Vigi returns to Slightly Transformed with a three-track EP. 'Show Me' itself is up first and has a late 70s/early 80s feel, with classic disco strings married to a more boogie-esque male vocal. 'Feel This Love', which follows, drops the tempo and has a hazy, laidback feel that means it would slot well into Balearic sets. The package is then completed by 'Sundown', wherein a full male soul vocal and understated beats are served up in wobbly, warping fashion ? la Lemon Jelly, Bent et al. Classy stuff all round, but 'Show Me' takes the gold.

Captain Planet has been on a roll over the last year, with the release his acclaimed debut album “Cookin’ Gumbo”, an expansive European tour, and a steady stream of head-turning remixes for heavyweights like Ana Tijoux, Katy B, AM & Shawn Lee, The Pimps of Joytime, Scrimshire and more. Now the wayfaring dj/producer returns to Bastard Jazz for a very special cassette tape project entitled “Mystery Trip Vol. 1”.
 
Approaching the project with a classic mixtape mentality and drawing inspiration from Madlib’s “Medicine Show” series, the Captain has sourced out sounds from all corners of the globe. Obscure cuts were ripped from vinyl, then sliced, diced, chopped and skewed with a hefty injection of original production, programming and homegrown field recordings from his travels around the world.  What’s resulted is a 45 minute multi-generational sonic journey, touching on sounds from Senegal, Jamaica, Ghana, Puerto Rico, Peru, Brazil, Italy, Korea, Guadeloupe, and Zimbabwe, that reflect the depth of the Captain’s crates and his skills behind the boards. “Mystery Trip” is not just a DJ mix nor a collection of simple edits but rather an entirely new piece of work from C.P. - a love letter  to the funky sounds of our planet and the rare vinyl it hides in dusty junk shops, back alleyways, basements and attics.
 
Each limited-edition “Mystery Trip” Cassette tape comes with a free digital download of separated tracks/edits, along with the full digi-mix. As an added bonus, Captain Planet is hand-painting an exclusive batch of Walkmen with his own one-of-a-kind designs, which will be available as a premium pack with the tape at the Bastard Jazz store. Congratulations to NHAN SOLO and MOTHER RECORDINGS on reaching their 100th release.
Time flies when you're having fun! Now is the time to look back at the success of the last years, which have included a couple of overall number one records. The label has enjoyed signing and growing together hand in hand with some of the biggest names in the scene like Mat.Joe, Superlover, De La Swing, Illyus & Barrientos. A label from friends for friends! The tracks have been remixed and edited by Claptone, Purple Disco Machine and Audiojack to name some highlights.
And here we are now, MOTHER 100 delivers two special and huge remix packages. Part 1 includes DANNY HOWARD and PHIL WEEKS on remix duty, enjoy!
First comes DANNY HOWARD, BBCR 1 host, tastemaker and English gentleman. He serves a peak time banger with punchy drums, crisp percussions and melancholic chords. Perfect setting and arrangement of the signature voice of ROBERT OWENS, pure goosebumps!
Next is our favorite Parisian dude PHIL WEEKS, who does what he does best! Loopy, groovy and funky MPC tracks to make your rump shake! This interpretation of Funky People is more on the dubby side with strip down vocals, repetitive funky bass line, full of effect and swing, yeah. We Love it!

One of the old school darlings, French dj/producer and Robsoul label boss Phil Weeks managed with his cuts and label releases to become one of the most respected guys by the original Chicago house posse.
