I've been thinking about recording this on my upcoming album, so I was playing around with "Everyday Looper" on my ipad by pre-recording all the guitar and percussion parts, and looping them in and out as I played the ocarina. Distortion effect was created by my Boss VE-20 effects pedal.

This was the first song I ever composed for the ocarina and the opening to my talk show/tutorial series, "OcTalk!", which was first posted on August 8, 2008. Although it was originally a shorter tune, I extended it and made it part of a medley called "Three Jigs", which was the first track on my album,  "Leave Luck to Heaven".

Inside Out (2016 Ocarina Collab song)

2016 was a rough year for people around the globe, and so I wanted to write a piece in memory of all those who's lives were taken too soon. During my recent trip to New York, I visited the 9/11 memorial and was deeply moved by the names inscribed in marble around the world trade center. I happened to have my ukulele, so I sat down and wrote this piece on the spot.

Almost two years ago, Matt posted his original piece called "Motions" on Youtube. About a year later, I asked if we could collab on that piece and I wrote the ocarina melody on top of it. Things got crazy on my end and it took a whole year for me to come back and record my parts! And that's how this piece came to be!

I've only watched a few episodes of Adventure Time, but heard Bacon Pancakes for the first time last night and had to extend it somehow. SO, I added a verse to go along with the chorus. Enjoy :D

Album Demo #1 - OcTalk Jig

This is an idea I've been playing around with for my original piece, "Never Far Away", which I originally posted on Youtube back in 2009. The original video had more of a chorus feel to it, so I wanted to try to compose a verse...even though there aren't any lyrics, lol. Let me know what you think!

Never Far Away (Scratch Demo)

David was introduced to the Ocarina through the 1998 N64 classic, "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time". Since receiving his first Ocarina back in 2000, David has gained a large online following with over 70 million video views on Youtube. With a collection of nearly 400 ocarinas from the last 150 years, David enjoys educating the public on the history and development of the ocarina, as well as teaching his ocarina students how to make the most of their flutes and music education.

In 2009, David initiated the first major US Ocarina Gathering, held in Seattle, WA. It was hosted by Sandi and Richard Schmidt of Clayzeness Whistleworks and sponsored by Songbird Ocarinas and SMule Inc. He also attended the 2011 Ocarina Festival in Budrio, Italy and hopes to bring a similar international festival to the United States in the next 5 years.
