London-based DJ and producer Jay Duncan collaborates with saxophonist Ben Vince on her debut release for Phantasy, introducing two wildly imaginative compositions alongside a simmering remix from Ricardo Villalobos.

From the first notes of brass, quickly melting into a lucid shuffle, it’s clear that ‘In Limbo’ exists on it’s own terms. Vince's virtuoso playing, a feature of former collaborations with the likes of Joy Orbison and Mica Levi, is here gradually manipulated by Duncan into a hugely ambitious trip. This meditative and mysterious approach draws listeners deeper into a liminal, minimal space somewhere between the Fourth World as imagined by Jon Hassell and four AM on a dancefloor in South London.

Duncan deftly raises the tension for the title track’s more percussive and arguably club-ready sibling ‘Anti-Purgatorio’, drawing out almost impossibly taut and inventive rhythms constructed around wormholes from which spill Vince’s instrumentation, washed downstream amid slippery modulations and a distinctive analogue atmosphere.

Ricardo Villalobos adds to his own superlative history of remixes with a characteristically trippy take on ‘In Limbo’. Spanning nearly fifteen-minutes, the legendary Chilean-German innovator subtly reimaginines this ambitious record in form true to both his own musical heritage as well as Duncan’s futurism.

The rich tapestry of Chilean music is celebrated as Drumma Records turns 5 years old with the long awaited debut collaborative project between two special electronic music personalities from their home country, as Ricardo Villalobos and Umho known as Ricmho release ‘Melo de melo’. 
Villalobos and Umho have a friendship that spans over twenty years and Luis Ordenes AKA Umho has frequently played alongside Villalobos for his most important sets. The tracks were produced last winter in Berlin during their tour together and this is the first time the two of them will release together on their beloved vinyl format.
The bond that Ricardo and Umho share for Latin American music is evident in both tracks, these are rhythmic and textural microworlds combined with unrivalled syncopation and evocative melodies beholding fundamental traits of the Latin American continent's culture and integral elements of this duo's musical language.

Reboot takes another slice from his recent album ‘aLIVE’ out for a walk. This time it’s ‘Are You Losing My Mind?’. First we’re treated to the vinyl version full of everything we loved from the original. A stripped down tech house beat sprinkled with a might vocal hymn and plenty of groove. Then Ricardo takes over the track with his own very particular style. He’s made two distinct versions, ‘Hauswiedermischung’ is first. As he’s known to do, Villalobos created a kind of chaos in which the track lives without ever losing the groove and with plenty of little surprises to discover throughout. Next is Ricardo’s twenty four minute ‘Losing my Miles’ remix, and here is where he really loosens the grip on the track and lets it wander in and out of coherence, taking it and us along for a special ride that only Ricardo can deliver. From beginning to end, you don’t know what to expect but you know it when it comes. Get it, press play, and lose your mind.
