Lagaffe Tales introduces new BROT series with four electro-tinged cuts from Iceland’s https://soundcloud.com/felixleifur entitled ‘BROT01’.

Reflecting the harsh nature of Iceland’s unforgiving, barren landscape, Lagaffe Tales push alternative styles of modern dance music with their new BROT catalogue. Lagaffe’s main series includes releases from Icelandic talent like Intr0beatz, Ilo and label boss Jónbjörn, with Lagaffe Tales maintaining its reputation for supporting local artists by inviting Felix Leifur to the imprint. Felix has built a solid reputation for himself following releases on Frits Wentink’s Bobby Donny label and Dirt Crew Recordings with ‘BROT01’ being the first in a trilogy of releases coming in 2019.

‘Brot 1’ kicks things off with resounding electro drums, thick low end and glitchy oscillations before ‘Brot 2’ delivers gloomy synth notes and clattering 909 claps floating around modulating obscurities. Raw percussion balanced with stabbing bass and airy pads take the focus in ‘Brot 3’ until ‘Brot 4 rounds things off with delicate pulsations bouncing delightfully off the polished kicks and wavering melodies keeping you locked in throughout.

Malin Genie delivers his debut LP ‘Anthropomorphic Sympathy’ via his own Malin Genie Music imprint this September, comprising fourteen tracks from the Dutch artist.

Amsterdam born and based Malin Genie’s output both alone and as part of collective trio Mandar has seen him gain worldwide recognition as a purveyor of raw and emotive house, techno and other electronic styles. Here we see the producer stepping up to deliver his debut long player via his own Malin Genie Music, a foray into isolated sonic explorations as he explains –

Malin Genie: ‘’At the time of making this project, I chose to do so in a comfortable way, utilizing the tools I am most familiar with and most accustomed to. I created a place where I would isolate myself socially, having no interactions other than with a selection of instruments. Socially isolated people seem to be more sensitive to the presence of others in the environment and are more likely to endorse anthropomorphic beliefs about objects. Since direct observation of intentions and desires is only possible in the self, and otherwise they are inferred based on observable properties of the target, what does and does not experience mental states is at best an educated guess.’’

Across the album Malin Genie collates a collection of cuts encompassing his broad range of influences, from ambient/new age tinged tracks like ‘For Edmond Bellamy’, ‘Singularity’, ‘Korwar’ and ‘Lived II Time’ and hazy house cuts like ‘You’ and ‘Sopine’ through to more dynamic, detailed electronica in ‘-*-‘, ‘November Subitizing’ and title- cut ‘Anthropomorphic Sympathy’, as well as a nod to more minimal aesthetics in ‘Dimlove’.

‘Anthropomorphic Sympathy’ stands as a true representation of Malin Genie’s experiences in electronic music throughout his life, intricately weaved together to create unique listening experience.
