This tune was born of fire and love.

Late in the evening towards the end of summer last year. The right reverand MassEvil had a computer melt down that no ammount of switching on and off could ever fix. As The Kurnel and MassEvil laid the computer to a shallow grave somewhere off the M1 there was a sad tear shed at the loss of the greatest HipHop track ever written!.  With my finely honed musical super powers i could feel a loss in the force and was ready when the good people at Relative Dimensions sent out a distress signal calling all those producers brave enough to match the challenge of "the mix down of the rescued stems".From the tattered and torn remanants we worked day and night in a tireless persuit of perfection, although the endless good humour, comedy and good vibes was tough to get through, we got there  and the phoenix was born.....iam so glad this tune was not lost to the great HD in the sky . x

This was a Fantastic three months in the studio. We got to make some epic versions of Classics for Live use at the Futurism 3.0 show.  Everyone worked closely together, It was an immersive show. With a story ,theatre , visuals and a blurred line between audience and performers. I real highlight of my Career. All the production was overseen by the legend D-Product, so the bar in production quality was set extremely high from the onset, so anything coming from my studio had to be the best It could . I got in touch with Dj Die at first just to see if any of the original samples and loops where filed away on a dust DAT tape in a forgotten archive but alas He could not facilitate that. However he did point me in the right direction for the samples and loops they where using during this "era" :)  and shared plenty of production tips for getting the sound. He even pointed to a few live recording that had the original samples and band in isolation during intros etc .So armed with a recorder I collected as much of the original sounds and original instruments and loops.. All the beats for these where triggered by Midi from an old akai s2000, technology has come so far over the last 20 years that stepping back I realised just how luck we are as producers today, Task that are instant now took hours back then. . It was fun triggering beats old school style and having no means of saving everything(floppy disk lying around anyone?? no lols ), each session was done and recorded in one session, with a bunch of random freestyle cuts and flips thrown in for good measure for more  variations,  these where then imported into the computer and given some modern style production with ought changing the  characteristics of that generation of DnB production, They had to sit next to Onallee's very latest Releases but still feel retro as fuk. The music was a Joy. Every thing about BB era is the performance. All those loops are played not programmed, So the midi grid was ditched and Everything replicated was played in real time sometimes taking almost excessive repetitions  just to nail the vibe. We had a bit of fun with some of the elements of the songs It was a NYE party after all. I learned two things, with care and attention and real honour to the originals you can get quite close to a remake, However nothing can re make the original magic that such gifted Musicians captured . I Can not heap enough praise on Roni and the crew, the depths and nuances in the originals is truly breath taking when scrutinised. The whole experience was amazing, DJ ing my own edit of Brown paper bag for Onallee to sing over may be the highlight of my career so far, I have never seen a dance floor go so off :) . These tunes where played as 4 stem Dj mix's during the live show so I had more control and we could loop sections and `jam on the fly to keep things spontaneous but structured. I had a sp555 sampler and 2 Kaos pads plus My Vinyl scratch records collection for added jams and loops and drops.  I will never forget this set , When Leonie Laws Began to sing I burst into tears it was just so epic . I remember looking down at the mixer and couldn't see a thing from tears of absolute reverence at the magic in that single moment. Luckily I was DJ ing in a huge Mirror Ball so I don't think any one noticed.
