Originally, the track was going to be another collab. This was decided against due to creative differences.
This lacks backing, and the drums are not finalized. There is also basically no attempt at mixing.

WELL, LONG LONG AGO, LIFE DIDN'T LOOK LIKE THIS.
LET'S GO BACK TO A TIME BEFORE OUR GREAT PAPYRUS CAME TO POWER. WHEN HE AND HIS BROTHER WERE MERELY AGENTS.

THE SKY THAT TIME WAS FOREVER A DUSTY GREY.
BUT METTABLOOK AND THEIR COUSIN SPRINKLED IT WITH A TOUCH OF BLUE.

WELL, IT WAS REALLY HARD TO OVERLOOK METTABLOOK'S TALENT IN PERFORMANCE.
YES, THOSE GHOSTS' SHOWS CAN ALWAYS MAKE MONSTERS LAUGH HEARTILY, LIFTING THEIR SPIRITS IN TIMES OF GRIEFS.

AS THE HOPE OF UNDERGROUND, METTABLOOK WAS CHOSEN TO BE THE MONARCH OF MONSTERS.

ONE DAY, A HUMAN FELL DOWN.
THAT HUMAN TREATED MONSTERS AS THEIR OWN KIN.
UNABLE TO ENDURE MONSTERS' PLIGHT, THEY WENT SO FAR AS TO WILLINGLY SACRIFICE THEIR OWN SOUL.

AND METTABLOOK, AS THEY CLAIMED, WOULD MAKE THEIR WAY TO "OUTSIDE" WITH THE SOUL.
THEY GONNA SPREAD TO HUMANS THE TRUE MEANING OF LOVE, BUILDING A BRIDGE OF PEACE.

WELL, AND YET, HUMANS THERE WERE STILL LIKELY TO VIEW MONSTERS AS SLAVES.
WOULD METTABLOOK'S WISH COME TRUE?

WELL, IS THERE SOMETHING EVEN A GHOST COULD BE AFRAID OF?
THE COUSIN, SUPPORTING METTABLOOK SILENTLY ALL ALONG, IMPLORED THEM TO STAY SO BAD.
WELL, PERHAPS THE COUSIN WAS JUST CONCERNED ABOUT BEING ALONE AGAIN.

METTABLOOK DEPARTED WITHOUT LOOKING BACK, ONLY LEAVING A PROMISE.
ONLY A PROMISE LEFT.

ONE YEAR, TWO, ELEVEN...
THAT COUSIN NEVER LIVED TO SEE THE PROMISE FULFILLED.

WALLOWING IN SORROW FOR LONG, FINALLY, THE COUSIN SEEMED TO REACH A RESOLUTION.
ON A NIGHT OF BLIZZARD, THEY VANISHED WITHOUT A TRACE.

BEFORE A MONSTER COULD EVEN PERCEIVE, THE COUSIN, AMIDST THE SNOWSTORM, DID NOTHING AGAINST THE INVADING CHILL, GONE IN LONELINESS AND CALM.
AND ALL THE TEARS THEY HAD PENT UP, CRYSTALLIZED INTO ICE THAT ENCASED THEM.

AND MEANWHILE, HAVING LOST THEIR LIGHT, MONSTERS FELL INTO UNEASE AGAIN AND RUMORS ENSUED.
SOME EVEN WHISPERED THAT METTABLOOK HAD LEFT TO SIDE WITH HUMANS.
IT WAS THEN THAT PAPYRUS CALMED THE UNREST, VOWING TO SHOULDER THE BURDEN TO LEAD THE MONSTERKIND.

PAPYRUS ANNOUNCED TO ALL OF UNDERGROUND.
HE WOULD CAPTURE EVERY HUMAN WHO FELL AND CLAIM THEIR SOULS.
HE WOULD RAISE UP THE BLADE OF VENGEANCE AND SLASH THE CURSE THAT PLAGUED MONSTERS FOR GENERATIONS.
HE WOULD BECOME ANOTHER SHINING STAR IN THE MONSTER EYES.

WELL, DESPITE ALL THIS, PAPYRUS'S BROTHER SEEMED TROUBLED BY SOMETHING.
IT WAS AS IF HE COULD SEE A CERTAIN DOOM APPROACHING PAPYRUS.

WELL, HE'D BETTER LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE.
SINCE METTABLOOK DISAPPEARED, PAPYRUS HADN'T BEEN THIS DRIVEN IN AGES.
NOW THAT HIS BROTHER HAD FOUND A NEW LIFE PURPOSE, SHOULDN'T HE BE GLAD?

ANYWAY, PAPYRUS NOTICED SOMETHING WRONG WITH HIS BROTHER.
PAPYRUS BELIEVED HIS BROTHER NEEDED A GOOD VACATION.
SO, PAPYRUS ASSIGHED HIM TO A SIMPLE SENTRY DUTY FAR AWAY.
WELL, INDEED, NO ONE HAS SEEN PAPYRUS'S BROTHER SINCE THEN.

WELL, AFTER THAT?
WELL, YOU ARRIVED. AND HERE YOU ARE, LISTENING TO MY STORY.

TO BE FRANK, THIS STORY IS REALLY QUITE ORDINARY, RIGHT.
THERE ARE NOT EVEN ANY TWISTS AND TURNS AT ALL.
SOMETIMES EVEN I FORGET THE DETAILS.

BUT LOOK, UNDER THE GUIDANCE OF OUR GREAT PAPYRUS,
MONSTERS NEVER GIVE UP, DEDICATED TO THE COMMON CAUSE.
EVERY MONSTER WORKS HARD, FOR THE FREEDOM THAT NOW LIES WITHIN REACH.
BECAUSE MONSTERS ARE CERTAIN, THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL PEN: 
A STORY PAGE SOLELY FOR MONSTERKIND.

SO,
WHY NOT WIPE AWAY YOUR TEARS?
YOU ARE ON YOUR WAY TO BEING A GREAT STAR.
