We stop off in Cork for this weeks Local Selection, as we hand the controls over to 1/3 of the Elision collective, Dave O'Neill, as he provides us with an hour of Wednesday afternoon power.

There's nothing we love more than hearing from DJs around the country, which is what the Local Selection series aims to do. The Elison collective have been on our radar for quite a while as both promoters and consistently solid DJs, so this mix from resident Dave O'Neil is a great addition to our evergrowing series.

Dave is a Resident DJ of the Cork based collective Elision alongside Jack Devine and Fionn O Regan where they hold a residency in Dali. With Elision, Dave has been on the same bill as the likes of Bas Mooy, Dj Seinfeld, Ayarcana, Sunil Sharpe, Jamie Behan, Doug Cooney, Theologue and Offtrack  to name a few, as well as making appearances at Mass Festival and Trax. He has recently finished studying DJ skills and music production in B.I.F.E under the guidance of Irish legends Sunil Sharpe, Defekt and Doug Cooney and is now furthering his education in B.I.F.E studying music production.

Hailing from the respected & rich music culture of Cork City. Dj & Producer David O'Neil who Studied DJ Techniques Music production in B.I.F.E under Sunil Sharpe, Doug Cooney and Defekt. Delivering a full blooded investigation into the integral side of Dark and heavy Techno, spanning from UK sounds to tougher FM & European sounds. The DON showcases a proficient display of potential and Kinetic energy with the mix quickly shifting gears throughout, similarly to his performance as 1/3 Elision DJs at their residents nights. RLSD is very grateful to work alongside David's input in a bid to Boost his signal as we monitor progression, keeping and eye on production work for our upcoming releases in the near future.

RLSD Podcast 036 David O'Neill - Innocent Incarceration

Our first premiere of the week is a double header from the Rebel county, as two of Ireland’s most promising techno act’s team up for a cracking release in aid of Pieta House. We premiere David O’Neils, impressive broken spin on FYuN’s, ‘Untitled’ track.

2021 has seen numerous collaborations between Irish artists, this time FYuN, David O’Neil & Offtrack step up for a great cause as they serve up some great techno.

FYuN has organised an EP for charity that consists of an original entitled ‘Untitled’ and two remixes from Dave O’Neil and Offtrack. The trio of producers, went deep and created an intricate EP ranging through different styles of techno.

This EP was put together in order to raise funds for Pieta House. Pieta house is a nonprofit organisation who relies on the public for 80% of their funding. They offer free services to those with suicidal ideation, those engaging in self-harm and those bereaved by suicide.

The EP consists of an original track with a driving and powerful nature by FYuN and is accompanied by two broken drum style remixes by Offtrack and Dave O’Neill. 

David O’Neils remix is a menacing broken beat interpretation of the original, encompassing pounding kick drums, hypnotic bleeps, brisk percussion and atmospheric soundscapes. The track is reminiscent of Bas Mooy, Charlton, DJ Boss & other artists that feature heavily on Mord. This is quality!

Doiléir’s contribution to Cork’s electronic music scene runs deep. The vinyl-leaning DJ,emerging producer, established promoter, and RealSound tutor has built his reputation from the ground up, playing under-the-radar parties and club nights across the country. 

In 2019, he progressed his skills further by studying DJ Techniques at Bray Institute of Further Education [B.I.F.E] under the tutelage of Sunil Sharpe, Defekt and Doug Cooney, honing his craft through the guidance of Irish artists at the top of their game. After completing the course, he studied Music Production, also at B.I.F.E. 

Back home in Cork, Doiléir is a resident DJ and co-founder of the Elision collective alongside Jack Devine and Fionn O’Regan. The platform shines a light on rising and established names, deviating from trend-driven sounds and, instead, focusing on talented artists from the realms of techno and electro. Sunil Sharpe, Jamie Behan, Cailín, Josh Reid, Doug Cooney and many more have soundtracked the party. 

As a DJ, Doiléir has a broad taste in electronic music. His vinyl and digital collection spans old-skool to contemporary techno, tougher European textures, hypnotic soundscapes and wonky electro, building potent energy on the dancefloor. With a versatile taste in techno, he has supported Sunil Sharpe, Bas Mooy, Keepsakes, EAS, and Tremor, amongst several other leading names. 

Keen to share knowledge with like-minded souls, Doiléir is a tutor with RealSound. He teaches DJ Techniques, using his experience navigating various setups and DJ gear as a tool to encourage aspiring DJs who wish to refine their skills in a friendly environment. 

Dedicated, focused and open-minded, Doiléir is a vital artist on the Irish dance music scene.
