One of the DNB scene’s most innovative producers, Billain is a name synonymous with the cutting edge of music production. Known in Neurofunk circles and beyond for his organic, complex and totally original style - Billain has been smashing clubs worldwide, ever since he truly destroyed the scene in 2012 with the releases of the chilling ‘Total Darkness’ on Rise Audio and the massive ‘Batbots’ on Bad Taste Recordings.

Fresh from ‘Wizard’, a massive collaboration with the Teddy Killerz on Bad Taste which has seen over 100,000 plays on UKF, Billain is ready to drop the follow up to ‘Blockfield/Boogie’. One of the most exciting releases to date on the Bad Taste Recordings imprint, the Colossus EP will be presented in a  limited edition, full colour 2x12” Vinyl package, with all four stunning tracks pressed on seductive orange/black marble vinyl. 

Already lightyears ahead of the game, Billain continues to hone his innovative sound, this time taking proceedings to an arid, ancient Martian landscape. The centrepiece of Billain’s latest, ‘Colossus’ features a contorted, epic build up, lurching forward to life in another Billain-powered juggernaut. Featuring huge, barking bass and foreboding synths ‘Colossus’ sets the stage for the rest of the EP.  Next up retro stabs are turned on their head, with ‘Terminal’ propelling them into the future with vintage Billain basslines and percussion. Defying convention and breaking the mould once again, the experimental ‘Autonomous’ chugs forward whilst simultaneously spinning back - without a kick drum in sight. Skimming an alien landscape, ‘Red Surface’ sees Billain put his own spin on the classic roller. Combining an iconic bassline with the production skills of one of DnB’s most original producers, the last track is sure to slay the dancefloor. Featuring four groundbreaking tracks from the Bosnian maestro, the Colossus EP is the most innovative work yet from the deadly Bad Taste and Billain combination.

It's sunshine time again. The time when we need a new D&B soundtrack to score our festivals, carnivals, pool parties and barbecues. And you'd struggle to find anyone better qualified to curate that soundtrack than Technique's bosses Drumsound & Bassline Smith. Just a quick glance at their immense back catalogue of anthemic releases or their packed international bookings diary is enough to demonstrate that they know exactly how to bring those summertime vibes.

Things kick off in suitably monumental fashion with a cut from the head honchos themselves, “I Need Somebody”. If you were looking out from a festival stage at a sea of excited hands in the air, this tune's searing vocal hook and unrelenting waves of bass would suit that scene perfectly. And, of course, this album contains a lethal dosage of similarly colossal tracks. For example, MaxNRG enlists a quirky vocal from Marianna to boost the hype-levels on “Headshot” and recent signing Kronology delivers the driving and euphoric “Untouchable”. Plus, there are some sizeable contributions to the big-room roll call from a few names you won't have seen on Technique before, like Oder's “Closer” and T-Phonic & Deadman's “Show Me the Way”.

But summer's not all about the shades-on daytime raving, we need some choice sunset material too for when things get a little darker. Document One and Spectrem exemplify this beautifully with the laid-back and jazzy “Falling” and the Kyphosis-laced “Fade” respectively. Helsinki's liquid maestros LAOS pass through to drop “City Lights” and “Belong”, and Tantrum Desire treats us to the effervescent “Sea Breeze”. For when things get darker still, there are tracks like the technoid, percussive world-unto-itself of Salaryman & Dark Machine's “Night Shift”. Guys like Conspire and Brian Brainstorm bring some full-on jungle, and the whole compilation is peppered with alternative sounds like Digital's dub workout “Groove Together”.

The thirty-one tracks here represent a cross-section of the mighty, multi-stranded, multi-form D&B scene and what it can do for summer 2015. There are names you'll know and names you might not know yet. There are huge mainstream anthems and shadow-bound subtleties. There are tunes for midday and tunes for four in the morning. And for four in the afternoon the next day. Ultimately, this isn't the sound of the summer, this is all the many different sounds of the summer put together on one album. So, the soundtrack's sorted, time to go out and have a summertime that's worthy of it!

Entita makes his Dispatch debut with the Daily Routine EP - a four-track package that embodies his raw yet forward-thinking take on drum & bass.

Label boss Ant TC1 first connected with Entita after hearing (and supporting) an impressive LFLF EP, later meeting him in person at a Dispatch night in Prague. What followed was a long but rewarding creative process, with ideas being traded back and forth, mixes refined, and even an additional track left on the cutting room floor. The result is an EP that feels both carefully considered and brimming with energy.

The EP captures that spirit across four weighty cuts, capturing exactly that balance between the classic Dispatch DNA and his forward-facing sound. From Entita’s razor-sharp solo cut to the collaborative efforts with Serpnt, Yatuza and Furious Freaks, the EP delivers both grit and groove in equal measure. Expect rolling basslines, intricate drumwork, and that unmistakable raw funk that feels both nostalgic and refreshing.
