This is a totally stolen idea gleaned from another one of those phone conversations with my brother Gary. We talk to each other every few days and normally end up sounding like two old men sitting on a park bench putting the World to rights.

I’m sure a lot of what we say has been said many times before (what hasn’t?) but one day, out of the blue, Gal says to me “ Sometimes I find things too difficult to deal with. I would love the opportunity to step off the world for just one second and clear my head a bit...” At the time I just accepted it as the type of thing we say to each other but two days after the phone call the idea of stepping off the world to escape the pressures of daily life returned when I was playing my guitar. The words “I’m stepping off, I’m stepping off” fitted with what I was playing and the start of a new opus was born.

Once a song seems complete, I generally record a quick demo and send it off to Gal to see if it has any potential. If he thinks it has, between us we try to put a better demo together to send to Hans.  If he thinks it’s any good, he’ll work on an arrangement and more often than not sends back something back that sounds way better than what we’d imagined.  

We might chip in a few ideas here and there (as Gal did with a totally new drum arrangement on this) but Hans is definitely the one that gives it most of it’s final shape and sound.  I love every step of the songwriting process.  It provides a kind of therapy and the creative process gives every day purpose and interest.  You could say it’s my way of stepping off the world for a short moment.

Out of the Darkness

This is a follow-up posting of a wonderful collaboration Dan-T had invited Debra and I to contribute to.  Dan had posted it well over a year ago as a backing track to a dramatic French Fantasy production.  With his kind permission after the delay of a year, I wanted to post this as a celebration of a different kind of drama--life awakening from a long winter sleep. Dan's synths are sweeping and epic, Debbie's playing is measured and elegant like the words in a fine poem.  The Requinto guitar has a sweet voice sounding a bit like a Celtic harp to round out the production.  Hear more of Dan's French Fantasy (French Fantastic:) @dan-t-3, and Debbie's superb and poetic playing @debra_buesking.

MUSIC PHILOSOPHY / The SIXTH ELEMENT Vocals

Glass and concrete are so intertwined with the neural network of their inhabitants that a kind of symbiosis is obtained, reaching parasitism of one above the other. A small person has a choice: to be free or to become a link in this system, having realized this choice, the choice as such ceases to exist.

Dolbania was founded in January 2008 by two friends and a cat - lovers of good heavy music. Then a gloomy Gothic composition was recorded on the poems of I.V. Goethe on an acoustic guitar and synthesizer.
In the first year of her existence, she was in a creative search, with an admixture of depression. We searched for inspiration at abandoned industrial facilities and in listening to a huge amount of music. We fucked for a long time and a year later we finally decided on the style that you can currently hear in our songs.
