DJ firebrand Takaaki Itoh has come a long way since his early days of Detroit-influenced techno and parties in northern Japan. Without compromising anything in the way of quality his appeal has grown exponentially. Like a musical surgeon, his approach relies less on sweeping gestures and more on small millimetric cuts and tweaks that slowly ramp up the mood and leave the listener with sound that is at turns growling, mystical and amorphous.
