Dominik is a rising rap and R&B artist based in Phoenix, Arizona. Known for his bouncey, melodic rap flow and delivering playful, passionate punchlines, Dom’s style rides the borders between hip-hop, R&B and trap, creating a sound that feels uniquely his. His new single, ‘Treachery’, is set for release in May 2021.
Originally from Zagreb, Dom was born in 2000 to American parents, just 4 years after the Croatian Independence War. He moved to the US at age 17 to finish high school. By the age of 12, Dom had started his journey as a music artist, picking beats and writing lyrics to them, eventually making them his own. Since his family were musical — his mother loved to sing and write, whilst his aunt and uncle were gifted musicians — he had started casually singing as a toddler.
Although raised in Europe, Dom’s parents exposed him to plenty of 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s American music across different genres, including rock, grunge, pop and old-school rap. However, growing up in Zagreb, Dom found himself heavily influenced by Europe’s music scene, including Croatian acts and international artists from the UK to Italy. He cites his top inspirations as Eminem, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Drake, 50 Cent, J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Skepta.
As a lyricist, Dom’s main sources of inspiration for his music and content are his daily struggles with life, relationships, friends and the hustle, as well as his unsettled past living in a traumatized post-war country that never quite accommodated him.
