Samurai Music presents it's 100th Vinyl Release with Hyaku

The medium is the message! Vinyl has always been our preferred medium for releasing music and without this tactile form of presentation, Samurai Music would not continue in its current form. Vinyl is the ultimate personification of what the label wishes to represent. Music always comes first, but the vinyl artefact is king for us.

Hyaku is the 100th Vinyl release on the Samurai Music label. Through the many twists and turns of the industry in our almost 17 years of existence, the Samurai Music vinyl releases have maintained their aspiration for quality, unique design that stands the test of time. Praise and thanks always to our long time designer Ryan Quinlivan and the many pressing plants we have worked with over the course of our labels lifespan.

First up it's a fresh VIP take on 'Act Of Rage', this time featuring Ant TC1 delivering a devastating combination of razor-sharp breaks, tense atmospheres, and heavyweight low-end. Also featuring on the release is LA based Dr. Apollo who links up for 'Teorema', which is inspired by the writing of NC-17's first feature screenplay and provides yet more dancefloor grit.

NC-17 - Teorema (ft. Dr. Apollo)

NonRev steps back onto Codename with his latest release, the 'Petrol Nights' EP,  a six-track journey full of atmosphere, emotion and some serious drum science.

Things kick off with 'Fell Apart', a lush amen workout that blends deep, moody strings with tough breaks. Then 'Intrinsic Grey' rolls in with a darker, more reflective vibe, all cinematic keys and slick drum edits that give it real depth.

'Nano Technology' switches the mood again, bringing bright, uplifting chords over driving, techy rhythms that keep things moving. The title track, 'Petrol Nights', feels like a late-night drive to nowhere, a bit eerie, a bit beautiful... 
the perfect soundtrack for the comedown hours after a heavy one.

'Sensations' brings a warmer energy into the mix, with subtle brass touches, smooth Rhodes and shuffling, detailed percussion that pulls you right in. Finally, the EP wraps with 'Forgot To Breathe', a standout moment where NonRev brings his own vocals into the mix over a gorgeous, guitar-led backdrop.

This one’s a proper journey. Soulful, intricate and full of character.
