I produced this record specifically to play at the Shrine in LA in early 2020 (which turned out to be a few weeks before the world shut down). It was written as a tongue in cheek story partly inspired by my first car, an old Camry that collects dust in Melbourne while I’m away on tour. I wasn’t sure what to do with the record when dance floors paused around the world. But I’ve received requests for it every other day since. All things considered, I figured it’s probably time to get it out there into the world. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed giving it a rev on the dance floor.

During the pandemic I created a four part mix series for Triple J that was focused around my inspirations as a DJ and record producer. It sent me down quite the nostalgic path of re-discovery. I believe the pandemic became quite a reflective time for everybody at home. Not just they were pining for a life before COVID 19, but it gave them a chance to look back and discover what they liked about life in general. Whether that be art, music, or even relationships. 

After listening to all of this music, I decided I wanted to try my hand and write a timeless rave record that not only made listeners nostalgic for the past, but excited about the celebrations we all have to come. “Miracle Maker” is the result".

I’ve been testing this track out on the road for the better part of 12 months, tweaking the moments until I felt it had just the right amount of dance floor appeal. It’s been so exciting to watch people connect with it right in front of me. I wrote the hook after wrapping up a club show at Audio in San Francisco back in June 2018. The crowd was really gravitating towards sustained, rolling grooves that night, so when I got back to the hotel I really felt the need to make one that was just for them. The speech in the breakdown is a sample of a local San Franciscan dance legend who I’ve respected for a long time, and I felt it was just too perfect to let the track out into the world without it.
