This Spring, we had our inaugural New Palm campout in the high desert of Johnson Valley for two days and two nights of seasoned raging. After several years of delays, it was quite the feeling to have this come to fruition.

 We revisit our seasonal mix series with an approximation of a set from that weekend by New Palm regular Kevin Lipman, aka @under_current, who closed out our first night. Sure-footed, stoic, and moody, Kevin brought out the desert bleak with patient selections and sprinklings of his original work.
 
The campout was a veritable group effort, so thanks to everyone who came and did it right, and as always, big thanks to core enablers Carter & Leah for the brains and sound, Robbie & Mark for the muscles, Saba for the hot car, John for the tasteful shade, Michael, Tim & Sabrina for the libations, Alka, Josiah, Cha Cha (+ others) for the sustenance, and Phil for the wonderful eye.

Aisyah Q is a DJ from Indonesia who discovered her passion for dj-ing while living in London. Starting off on vinyl, she began collecting records of any genre and developed a strong interest in various UK sounds from drum n bass to dubstep. With a penchant for multi-genre mixing, expect a versatile and high quality selection of old and new gems curated with lots of love and detail in every set.

Aisyah Q describes their mix as 'I wanted to create a mix that represents my interpretation of what PPRZ sounds like: deep, intricate, unexpected, textural and a bit playful. I selected tracks with those qualities to create an emotive nostalgic journey with strong textures and melodies that captures both modern and older techno sounds of different facets. Recorded on an XDJ-RX.'

We are grateful to have the artist Angekaut for our fifth installment of carbon file. This accomplished designer brings his love for aesthetic to display an array of influences. An example of intentional vision and composure, Angekaut’s mix builds from a calm storm to a controlled chaos. Class throughout, this one is made for the dance floor.

@dannydaze has proven incredibly hard to pin down since he first emerged. After starting down a path that very quickly took him to the best clubs in the world but off the back of a sound that wasn't really his, he has managed to rewrite perceptions. After deciding to do things his own way, at his own pace, he is now known for what he really loves: techno, electro and IDM. Just recently he continued his collaborative work with Brazilian RHR on four dark, gritty and evocative cuts on OmniDisc, and has more music on the way soon on Schematic Records. 

This mix hints at what to expect from that EP, says Danny. "Due to the current conditions, I decided to go with chill zone session for this one mixed live with a bunch of the styles that influenced me over the last 20 years. Went a bit more trip-hop/IDM/electro with it which points to the direction the upcoming EP and album later in the year. Hope everyone has a nice week." So strap in for two freewheeling hours of interplanetary sonics, churning rhythms and otherworldly cinematics that will start your week right.
