 this is not perfect.  this was recorded very quickly. this is barely mixed. this was written on my drive back home  after watching a girl attempt jump off a bridge for over an hour and a half; and what i experienced from it. i dont care that this is imperfect. that is not the point.

I was in dead stop traffic in the middle of downtown la; at around 730 pm. I was so annoyed because I had been driving all day already and it was just exhausting. As my sight forwarded under the bridge that was above me, i saw two feet, dangling from the bridge. They were those of a woman, probably in her lower twenties. 

She was trying to attempt suicide. 

After 10 minutes of staring at her (what felt like a lifetime) and praying that she wouldnt jump, she had the world watching her. Two news helicopters, 8 fire trucks, 2 ambulances, a plethora of police, three bridges in eye sight were filled with people. The amount of eyes on her was enough to give anyone the worst stage fright you could imagine... But she continued to dangle her feet off the bridge, almost taunting her own life. 

I sat, on the freeway and continued to stare. I was sending all of the positive energy i possibly could. I had been in her position. I understood. I get it... Other people didnt. 

Within 30 minutes of hoping this girl doesnt jump off of a bridge, i heard a grown man yell "just jump already" --- which i responded with "shut the fuck up". I heard a woman say, well, she already lost, she should jump instead of going to jail. I told a UPS driver in another lane what was happening and when I told him a girl was about to jump, he openly, and VERY loudly, laughed. I saw a man snapchat her and whisper to his snapchat "jump, jump, jump, jump". I could continue with 3-5 more stories of people saying this. 

okay. 

at this point, I was shaking with rage. I could believe what i was hearing... A girl, about to jump off a bridge, and grown ADULTS yelling at her to jump... Just so they could get home a little bit faster. 
What happened to the decency of humans? What happened to loving all? What happened to just being a good person?? How could one possibly ever tell someone to jump, when they are about to. 

...

My only other thoughts to you, are this. Do not be those people. Help those that obviously need it. A simple hug, smile, hello, can quite literally save someones life. Go out, everyday from here on out, and smile at one person a day. Compliment someones clothing. Say Hello so someone who is obviously alone. Start a conversation and change a life. You have no idea how something so small to you, can be something so big for another. 

This world needs love. Lets make this world a place where people dont even feel the need to jump off bridges anymore. It starts with us. It starts with you.
