For those that don’t know, I’ve been dealing with some health issues over the last few years. The album art you are seeing here is a trace of my heart last year – 280bpm. What was I doing? Gardening. What bpm did I record this at? Exactly half – 140.

Following surgery last year and stepping forward in my career, I am in a much better space. So I have decided to live – or is this because I play live off the decks, with no syncing, no processing – this is what you would hear in the club. This music is stuff that really moved me – in fact I was going through some of tracks when I was recovering from surgery in ICU and I had to stop as my heart rate was starting to rise…. {grins}.

This is my kind of music. This is the kind of thing that would leave me needing to be scraped off the ceiling in clubs. There’s a classic in there and even better, two AMAZING tracks from a friend.

A live recording from the first De/tention at the Pioneer Club St Albans. This was a 90's night, so only from that decade and being the first DJ I wanted to clerar the pop, hip-hop, garage and rave for the other DJ's to concentrate on the club music that defined that decade. One of the many reasons I love Liberation (Fabric, next event in a few days!), so much is the DJ’s play to us. We are an older, more knowledgeable crowd, sonically speaking. Therefore, a blend of old and new is what really gets my juices going and it reflects in what I choose to listen to.

For all my years, I have never played what I truly love in a club - Trance. Don't get me wrong, I will happily play and make the crowd happy, but Trance is my first musical love. This was an unplanned, unrehearsed and totally off the cuff mix between myself and Rich T to close out the second De/tention night. The crowd loved it. A huge amount of fun to play and finally I can say that I have played Trance in a club. Format was 2 on, two off with me kicking off the mix. Please excuse the mic work at the end...

Don1 - Vegas Baby

I have lived with very few people. Between the practice wife and the real one, I lived with a man called Chris Morgan. 

He and I blame each other for a lot. He claims I ruined his life by introducing him to Guinness, Dairy Queen Blizzards, Bourbon, dressing well and a few other things I cannot discuss in public.

In return, he taught me how to DJ. There were many occasions the 4 decks (2x vinyl, 2xCDJ) wouldn’t get turned off for under 12 hours. There were (quite) a few time the decks went on at 19:00 Friday and didn’t turn off before 03:00 Monday, without us missing a single mix. Or missing work Monday. We were young and invincible. Music rules – there were no music rules. Surprise, entertain and enjoy.

This has turned into my tribute to one of the men I am proud to ‘brother’.
