Unknown Cause's second chapter in the Greyscale EP-series is based around four recordings of the sounds heard through the studio window sometime during the early nocturnal hours, back when the UC studio was set up overlooking Sagene square in Oslo. By using the local aural fauna as part of the background atmospheres in the tracks, a glimpse of the ambiance this area sounds like is presented through UC`s mistified, hypnotic style.

Anthropos Logos - @ Human Evolution Festival 2016

As weird as it sounds - I was raised to the sound of the early 90's ambient techno scene. Although I was still being breastfed when "Little Fluffy Clouds" hit the charts, the analogue warmth, acid bleeps, gentle pulse and curious yet deep psychedelia of the golden years 1990 to 1994 always felt so strangely familiar.

So how and when did I fall in to this rabbit hole? 2002, 14 years old, buying any record I could get ahold of with "entrancing" music. Hearing more made me crave for more, which made me hear more that got me craving for more. Napster. Kazaa. DC++. Discogs... 
Contemporary trance music felt stiff, uninspired and cheesy, while that 90's Eye Q, Harthouse, Platipus, Superstition and all this Goatrance took me so deep. Especially those who dared to bring the tempo down. So hypnotizing. So challenging. So rewarding... Levitation music....

The last months I've sold off big parts of my record collection, and while digitizing the music I've sold I've re-discovered many of these psychedelic wonders. This is truly sacred music for me, music that has been with me for so many travels the last 10-15 years. So I invite you to sit down on your magic carpet and explore space from a time long forgotten.
