Mostly connected with the lysergic festival circuit, Don Pepe has always refused to be pigeonholed, often labeling his diverse sound palette as “Travel Music”, plain and simple. Old, New, or Timeless – as long as the music is authentic, groovy, and transcendent, Pepe will share it, in one context or another. Having been a borderless “adventurer” in his youth, music is today his way to channel this “divine fool” archetype constructively.

His productions tend to have a similar non-conformist feel, often flirting with certain schools of sound, yet always staying outside looking in. Most notorious is his collaborative Pepe’s Bodega project, of which the debut LP “La Chorrera” from 2023 has been universally praised for its coherent concept and uncompromising danceability. The studio is currently boiling – stay tuned!

As opposed to what you may expect from the music I put out this is firmly routed in the hardcore continuum. Expect 90s vibes, acid lines, breakbeats, sub bass, all that good stuff that never really goes out of fashion.

Paul Rimbaud spent nearly a decade performing along Spain's Costa Del Sol as Elvis²  where he would sing Elvis Costello songs in the style of Elvis Presley but finally hung up his blue suede shoes in the mid-2010s after succumbing to the same predilections as the king himself, namely pills and cheeseburgers. He cleaned himself up, got sober, and turned his attention to his first true love, the rave. Seven years back he started the label, Distant Worlds, focusing on spacey, dreamy techno informed by the golden 90s era and more recently has also expanded into IDM territory with The Imaginary Museum. He has released music from the likes of Cignol, The Jaffa Kid, John Shima, Derek Carr & Sound Synthesis amongst others. He has a regular slot on London's AAJA radio and very occasionally plays further afield under the name of 'Kabij'.

Anthropos Logos - @ Human Evolution Festival 2016

As weird as it sounds - I was raised to the sound of the early 90's ambient techno scene. Although I was still being breastfed when "Little Fluffy Clouds" hit the charts, the analogue warmth, acid bleeps, gentle pulse and curious yet deep psychedelia of the golden years 1990 to 1994 always felt so strangely familiar.

So how and when did I fall in to this rabbit hole? 2002, 14 years old, buying any record I could get ahold of with "entrancing" music. Hearing more made me crave for more, which made me hear more that got me craving for more. Napster. Kazaa. DC++. Discogs... 
Contemporary trance music felt stiff, uninspired and cheesy, while that 90's Eye Q, Harthouse, Platipus, Superstition and all this Goatrance took me so deep. Especially those who dared to bring the tempo down. So hypnotizing. So challenging. So rewarding... Levitation music....

The last months I've sold off big parts of my record collection, and while digitizing the music I've sold I've re-discovered many of these psychedelic wonders. This is truly sacred music for me, music that has been with me for so many travels the last 10-15 years. So I invite you to sit down on your magic carpet and explore space from a time long forgotten.
