Hace mucho tiempo que quise sacar ese mixtape y ahora que salió el sol...es la hora!!

La inspiración de ese mix viene de un concepto sencillo: reimaginar unos temas que me encanta en un estilo cumbiero, más lento, más sabrosos ;) Mientras que estaba terminando mi EP Cumbias Imaquinarias (https://elbuho.bandcamp.com/album/cumbias-imaquinarias-ep) volví a enamorarme de la cumbia y su ritmo delicioso y pues asi nació el mixtape que mezcla todo desde Burial hasta Manu Chao y mucho más...

Espero que disfruten esta selección de música que ya conocen pero tal vez en un nuevo contexto o unos nuevos descubrimientos. Voy a agregar un playlist pronto pero por el momento escucha, disfruta y viaja!!! 🌞 ☀️ 🌞

I have been sitting on this mixtape for a little while now but decided, the sun is shining, it's time for some new music.

This mix is inspired by a simple concept: some tunes I love reimagined in a new context cumbiero. As I was finishing my last EP Cumbias Imaquinarias (https://elbuho.bandcamp.com/album/cumbias-imaquinarias-ep) I  went back to some Cumbia roots and decided to make this slightly mad mixtape of all sorts of music with Cumbia as the thread running through the mix. Everything from Manu Chao to Burial ;)

Hopefully you discover music you know and love in a new light and maybe even some new music ;) I will add a tracklist soon but for now, jump in, immerse yourself and enjoy the Cumbia sunshine!! 🌞 ☀️ 🌞

Mixtape: Cumbias Imaquinarias

Calling all record diggers, music nerds and treasure hunters! Captain Planet has cooked up a musical egg hunt specifically designed for you, with multiple prize packages available to win. As a way to celebrate the many vintage musical inspirations from around the world that helped shape his trademark "gumbo funk" sound, the Captain cooked up a 60min megamix featuring beloved records as well as some selections from his recent "Sounds Like Home" full-length. The first glimpse of Nickodemus' forthcoming album in Spring 2017 is a new collaboration with singer & songwriter Alsarah (Alsarah and the Nubatones). "The Crow" moves deep into 122 BPM stacking synth house that lyrically tells a story of ones identity in the metaphor of a Crow who looses his/ her feathers & tries to replace them with others. Saagan (the new project by super house producer Andreas Saag) turned in a beautiful melodic remix that turns deep Detroit with the sounds of Crows & Arabic strings.

DJ/Producer Don_Cerati is an extremely eclectic man when it comes to life and music. His DJ sets consist of a rhythmic combination of House, Latin, Funk, Brazilian, Afrobeat, Disco, Reggae, World Lounge, Cumbia, Dub, Tropical Bass, and everything in between, to take you into a musical journey around the world and back.

Prior to his DJing semi-hiatus of the past 6 yrs he could been seen sharing the DJ booth with some of his musical heroes and favorite people like Nickodemus, Wiseacre, Nappy G, Sabo, $mall ¢hange, DRM, Eddie Plenty, to mention a few, playing local spots like Bembe, Cielo, Nublu, and other venues still standing and some already gone. He also held down the residency at Corcho Wine Room for over 3 yrs where he did his weekly DC’s Grooves on Friday and Saturday nights before going into semi-retirement in 2014.

He has released a couple original EPs and singles with one of his remixes being included in the highly acclaimed "EarthRise SoundSystem Remix Project" series by EarthRise SoundSystem.
