I moved in with my brother and his girlfriend after travel from Debyshire become too much  for me, in return for my bed and board I hoovered the house and sold the tickets for the raves for my brother, in return I also got a free ticket ;)

We organised a coach to take people to White Waltham airfield Bucks ( near Maidenhead) it picked everyone up from Elm Park outside a church called St Albans.  Half of the coach was filled with people I grew up with in the 70's & 80's-on our little journey in to something new and fresh!

We headed around the M25 clueless as to where we were heading but the driver had instructions that my brother had received from a call on the landline from the promoters, we eventually got to the A404 heading to Maidenhead and turned off, I can remember seeing someone in a high vis waving and directing us in to a lane where we could hear the thump of the beat getting closer. Our coach eventually came to a stop and we all 'piled' out like excitable children (bearing in mind we were between 16-30 years old) I remember there was a video camera filming us which was the officlal video for the night.

We had to queue for a bit and I can remember feeling the pounding of the tune "Phantom" by Renegade Soundwave smashing through the side of warehouse as I came up on what was apparently a ‘yellow Cali’

We got inside and litterally ran  to the middle of the warehouse/hangar with excitement, there were already a few people dancing up on the dance platforms below what seemed to be a huge inflatable hanging ball.

I remember offering to get everyone in my small group of friends a drink and I disappeared off in to the middle of the smoke filled hangar, Li'l Lous French Kiss was playing ...as I walked I could feel everything becoming more and more intense until what seemed like a sheet of honeycomb pattens covered my vision in the formation of dry ice and strobe; the next thing I knew I was sitting on the floor in a recovery position with my nose running with the reassuring scent of the Bodyshop's Dewberry lingering close by....I got up continued to get some drinks and some peices of Honey Melon for my friends & returned, apparently I had been gone over an hour :/

The next morning the sun came up and everyone went outside and was dancing around the parked cars, we jumped on our coach and retuned to Essex at around 9AM,  on the way home we stopped for refreshments in a little village shop, our coach pulled up to the side of the road and out about forty ravers dressed in typical 1989 rave clobber decended in to the shop; we bought all of their Lucozade and Strawberry Ribena stock ( I can still remember the shock on the shop keepers shocked face) and we all headed back to Elm Park Essex.

A truly unforgettable weekend that'll stay with me forever.

London Fields 1990/1991

Back in the spring of 91 there was a lot of noise coming from the south coast and one night in July a car load of us drove down to Worthing from South London to see what all the fuss was about. This club was similar to The Eclipse in terms of the sounds...ruff & tuff hardcore, breaks, Belgian/NYC techno and everything in between. It was crazy. We had a few more down at Sterns and a couple of one off parties in Brighton. This was the sound of the Summer 91 for me...bloody hectic period all told but you could never forget - long live Sterns!

Here's my mix of some of my favourite Jenkins Lane Raindance rave classics from 1988-1991.
Over an hour of vinyl only tunes from in my opinion the best years on the rave spectrum and fond memories the Raindance Crew at Jenkins Lane Barking London.  Please be aware I own all of these records, some are over 30 plus years old and have been played thousands of times so some clarity may have gone. 
This is for those who were there in warehouses, fields and big tops as I was, and those that can only wish they were there.

In October 1990 Coventry made dance music history...

That first Saturday night/Sunday morning experience was put on at the former Granada Bingo Hall in Lower Ford Street,Coventry,England.

The bingo hall had now been transformed into a 4 floored nightclub, and was also voted the best nightclub in the country in 1991 by fellow ravers through DJ Magazine. With a chill out space including a cinema on the ground floor, a second floor room enough to hold 500 people, and the main room on the top floor holding over a 1000 people including the balcony.

Every Friday and Saturday night would be filled by clubber's and raver's from all over Britain..

Act's such as :The Prodigy, K Klass, SL2, Altern 8, Moby, Shades of Rhythm and LFO all passed through it's door's with live p.a. set's.

Top dj's such as, The great grooverider,carl cox,sasha,frankie bones,Micky finn,top buzz etc,all graced the decks on a reguar basis,and two hour set's were the norm.

February 94,the club was closed.

At the time of closing more than one million people had passed through its doors and it had a standing membership of 74,000. .
