PARALLEL WORLDS

Roland VariOS for vocalizations, Logic DAW, Logic eVoc-20 vocoder for middle section, Logic Sculpture for bell sounds in intro. Based on an article in Scientific American by Juan Maldacena, who postulates that our 3-space-dimensional world could be a holographic projection of another 2-dimensional, gravity-less world. This idea makes gravity emerge in our world, with gravity, string theory and quantum chromodynamics all aspects of this holographic relationship.

Einstein could not explain the expanding universe without the addition of a term called Lambda, or the Cosmological Constant. He then recanted his solution, calling the fudge factor his "greatest blunder". However, since the nineties, Lambda was put on a solid footing, and the rate of expansion has been thought to be accelerating due to the effects of this "dark energy". Breaking news: the existence of Lambda is again being questioned, and, if falsified, would prove Einstein right all along!

I have roots in Celtic music, and played for several years with Bill Craig, seen in the photo with the Guinness. We were called the Foggy Duo. I wrote and played all the instruments including tin whistle and mandolin. The rest is electronic done in Logic. Thanks again for Moshon at SGTC for his mastering greatness!

Wear headphones for best results and close your eyes. This is one of my early works in 3-D Sound, 1995, using Protron by Crystal River Engineering, now discontinued software. I first encountered Holophonic Sound in 1982, and went on a quest to discover a practical way of implementing HRTF-based imaging. Drums constantly move around the head, a rebellious response to drums always having to stay nailed down to the stage. Open/closed hat events move up the vertical axis. Most sounds are mixed in simulated 3-D. Brilliant help from Richard Underhill (3-D doppler-shifted sax, Shuffle Demons), Benjamin Gilchrist and Jono Grant. Again, great mastering of this relic track by Moshon at SignalTouch.
