Markantonio is back on his label AnalyticTrail with a new track called La Nuit that also features a remix from Spanish duo Dok & Martin.
One of the people who pioneered techno in Italy, Markantonio remains one of the country's most respected DJs and producers. In addition to his many releases on AnalyticTrail, his music can also be heard on other labels inclouding Second State, Codex, Odd Recordings, Say What? and KD Raw.
Alongside the solo original is a remix by Dok & Martin who made waves after their track Destroyer on AnalyticTrail charted inside Beatports top 10 best selling techno tracks for many weeks. Since then, they have also featured on other scene leading labels such as UMEK's 1605, Pig&Dan's Elevate and Alan Fitzpatrick's We Are The Brave.
The original mix of "La Nuit" brings the pounding of a heavy kick drum and twisted hypnotics of the lead synth combined with the onslaught of fast-flowing hi-hats. Dok & Martin's remix brings a rave theme with their old school keyboard part played over the aggressive energy of the original's core elements.

“Compilation albums have a special place in my heart and to mark our birthday year I really wanted to release a project that was distinctive and exciting. An album that showcases the diversity of the label, the talents of the many artists we work with and ties together the threads and themes the producers explore.

The 22 exclusive tracks here are a perfect snapshot of the sound that Critical is wanting to be at the forefront of : Underground drum and bass in many different forms but always with that cutting edge.

The physical album is a strictly limited edition 6 piece vinyl box set with artwork designed by Steiner Grafik. The box itself is beautiful with silver ink printed on both the inside and outer shell, the records are pressed on 120gsm virgin vinyl and the 6th plate has a special etching to commemorate the birthday.

We have a deluxe version too which is limited to 100 copies. This includes the album box , a special aluminium print of the artwork, a signed poster, a multi page fanzine designed by Studio Yasseen Faik, stickers and a slipmat. (update: Deluxe box sets have now sold out)

Expression is a series that showcases emerging talent that are set for big things in the near future with many of the artists having already featured on other influential labels such as Kraftek, Odd Recordings, Terminal M, Codex Recordings, Set About and Tronic.

The sixth edition of the series gives further exposure to each of the artists who are all destined for big things in the future months, and Markantonio adds his own music to show support for their talents that are already parallel with some of technos most established veterans.

Opening with the powerful synth line of "Fearless" by Markantonio, the compilation transcends the full spectrum of techno incorporating acid, industrial and twisted euphoria. Dark and compelling, each of these exceptional tracks are perfect for peak time DJ sets.
