Shoulda never gotten off at Exit 15
I was living a good life, keepin my shit pretty clean
Till that fine looking lady with her thumb held high
Shoulda never picked her up for a ride that night

Tossed her bag in the back, exchanged a few words
Ride was short , then she hopped out at the curb
Pulled away seemed strange she’d just want to go
To another random place on a dark country road

Thoughts interrupted by rear view  flashing  blue
That’s when I saw a bag with a patch that matched her tattoo
As I slowed to the road’s gravelly side
A scratching was heard, something  was moving in that bag’s inside

Before I could explain he said “Hands on the Hood”
Holster grip twitching so I did as I should
He reached in the back seat, the next moments blurred
Screams and blood and horror a blur of bone and fur

Briefly the critters and my eyes made a lock  
Then like a rocket it launched into the dark
“10-13” static crackled as I stared at the scene
No way no one would believe what I had just seen

A man’s mind can find focus when his ass is on the wire
Decided it was time to set the whole world on fire
Syphoned gas, sprayed it over the 5-0 and ground
Sparked a match, lit my smoke, flicked it without a sound

First I crawled, then a ran, crossed a chilly creek
Barely felt the prickers scraping across my cheeks
The crackle and explosion seemed a far away dream
Tried to forget that boy’s curdling scream

Hit the highway, set of  headlights coming  in from the distance
My thumb caught me a slowdown without much resistance
Bucklin’ I saw her skirt and thigh
It was that same fine lady I had picked up for a ride

For a mile we rode on without a word bout the smell
Not a word about the gasoline, the smoke, or the tell
For a moment I felt calm as I leaned back feeling beat 
Until I heard a scratch and a growl from in the back seat  

Heed my words, keep on driving past Exit 15
Keep on living your good life, and keep your shit clean
And if a sexy little lady holds her thumb out for a ride
You best keep driving, forget you seen her tonight
