For this weeks junto project I ran a synth patch through a guitar amp about 8 times.  On each pass through I altered the settings of the patch and the amp.  I then took the results of the 8 tracks and layered them at multiple speeds/tempos.  This resulted in about 64 layers of sound.

Marionette Records label boss Ali Safi aka @grimwig contributes a truly stunning mix of some of his favourite recent releases as well as upcoming material from the label.

“All this music means a lot to me and been listening to it quite a bit in the last couple of years - some of it on Marionette (released/upcoming) and some by artists I truly admire. It's all associated with strong visuals and personal memories - I travelled to quite a few places listening to this and it takes me back to the Scandinavian fauna and flora and the Canadian Rockies. I think of this music as quite vivid in general - like rushing through a gallery of expressionistic paintings."

Starting off with an exert from Louise Landes Levi’s IKIRU album from 2018 expressing bravery and wonder of the monarch butterfly species on the verge of endangerment, we travel through Richard Scott and Guiseppe Ielasi’s electroacoustic compositions to the closing track from Ernest Hood’s recently reissued visceral voyage “Neighbourhoods”. From here we are rewarded an insight into the upcoming releases from Ali’s @marionettelabel as well as a cut from Benjamin Kilchhofer and Michael Anklin’s 2019 release Moto Perpetuo. Later on, we hear Kali Malone’s Spectacle of Ritual fall behind waves of Cluster’s classic 81’ release Curiosum. A breathtaking sonic journey that instantly demands another listen.

O.S.S - Open Sound System

Ruud Lekx, with his wife Shaunna on vocals, returns to Bordello A Parigi. Following The Kill and From Ritual to Reason, Rude 66 delivers Resurrection; a four tracker brimming with his trademark touch. The title piece is a devilish vocoder incantation. Beats bite as Shaunna's thickly modulated voice rasps through bending distortion that bears the unmistakable 66 mark. Lyrics are sidelined for “The Curse”. Drum and dreamscape combine in this synthesizer spell, blackened shades blending with light tones in this heady brew. This balance is something Lekx achieves time and again in his productions. He once more finds this sense of equilibrium with the stained disco darkness of “The Sleepers”. Lurking, stalking, the track counters an innocent playful melody with undercurrents that throb with menace. That menace comes to the fore with “The Luciferians”.  A bare anthem of anti pop, a celebration of prowling, murderous intent plays to steady pulse and stripped melody. Brooding brilliance from a master of dutch electronics.
