For the 94th entry in the Honcho Podcast Series, we welcome Ouissam(@ouissamhk)! As the founder of Hong Kong’s Cliche Records, he was one of the first in that city to cultivate a disco-house-techno synthesis that shifted the understanding of what could be danced to there. 

He went on to create the magnetic Homesick and Fragrant Harbour labels, before suddenly setting his sights on Hanoi in Vietnam, where he has established the dance mecca Savage where he runs the monthly queer night Snug.  This hour long mix is a perfect example of his ability to move effortlessly between disco, house and techno. Enjoy!

Most recently she has a 1-year artist residency at Powrplnt, along with her partner CyX, to launch Synth Library NYC - a lending library and community education program providing access to synth and other electronic musical instruments.

With this mix Heidi asks to please learn more about and consider donating to: I would love to highlight a new initiative called Synth Library NYC that I am helping to launch, together with the talented Brooklyn sound artist Cy X.  Synth Library NYC will open in May 2021 as a community education and music hub providing access to synthesizers, modular gear, recording equipment and other electronic musical instruments for people of all experience levels with priority access to BIPOC and those of marginalized genders.  Individuals will be able to ‘check-out’ an instrument and take it home for 3 weeks, just like one would borrow a book from the public library. Synth Library NYC also plans to have virtual and in-person workshops, synth meet ups, collaborative performances and other engagement activities to foster connection and help encourage those with less experience. We are grateful to be consulting with the founders of Fem Synth Lab in Los Angeles who have paved the way in this concept of community building, and Powrplnt, a network of Brooklyn artists dedicated to providing equal access to digital arts education, where we are currently residents.
