ARTIST's BIO

Topboy real name Nando born in the year 2000 is a South African Rapper, Vocalist, Producer and Video director based in the Capital City of Johannesburg. Topboy started rapping in an early age of 9 years and grow to being this modern day catastrophic and creative artist. 

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Topboy was born in the capital city of South Africa in Johannesburg and grew up in a township of Barcelona. He then moved to stay in Quantum with both his parents. He has 3 siblings which he grew up with in the same household. At the age of 8 he enrolled in Art for Peace Academy, which is where he gained his interest in the art of making music. Struggling with adapting to the rap accent at the age of 9 he began taking American accent classes and went on to excel and improve his rap accent and vocals at the age of 10.

At the age of 11 he lost his best friend who committed suicide due to mental instabilities, and this pushed Topboy to focus more on music expressing his feelings and emotions through melody.
At the age of 12 he recorded his first song using a recording equipment which his uncle left him on his basement. And at the age of 15 he started doing Extended Plays of melody (EP) and at the age of 19 he materialized to producing full blown mixtapes.

EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION

Topboy enrolled at Mpengesi Primary School to complete his primary education and went on to study at Lesiba Secondary School to complete his secondary education. During his this time he met fellow rapper and now best friend Boogie who helped him in song writing and beat production. He then went on to complete his tertiary education in the University of the Western Cape, pursuing his degree in Hydrology. At this point in his life, Topboy started collaborating with fellow international artists from namely Spain and Nigeria. He even started to work hand in hand with the local producer Astro-Beatz who helped improve his sound diversity and quality.

MUSIC CAREER BACKGROUND

Topboy started recording songs at the age of 9 but mastered the art of song writing at the age of 10. At the age of 12 he recorded his first ever song called "Bling 24" and then went on to drop a stream of songs namely, "More Power, Take-Off, Lost My Mind, Angels, State of Mind, Silver Bullets" etc ,which strengthened his music catalogue. He then went on to collaborate with his former producer on a mixtape titled "21 Questions". Topboy then went on to drop EPs such as the "Destroyer of World's, Hood Gospel and Days Before Extinction" and a mixtape titled "Son of Chris: The Last Prodigy" for his mother.

He  went on to drop hit songs with his former label before moving on to signing a deal with Amuse Distribution Corporation and establishing his own Record Label and music video directing venture (Blāck Umbrella Records under PGRockit Entertainment Inc. In the year 2020, he dropped his most anticipated Ep (Days Before Extinction) which currently sitting on 6, 758 streams on spotify and 2,087 streams on Youtube and 1,339 streams on Audiomack. 
He still continue to work hard and determined to achieve his musical dream.
