Experimental Housewife, @experimental-housewife, known to many as Exhouse, is a DJ, producer, percussionist, professor, label owner and community builder who has steadily forged roots within the dance music community for over twenty years, passionately riding the momentum since her beginnings in the 90s rave scene. Exhouse has developed the versatile technical stylings that have become signature of her DJ sets and live hardware performances, all the while championing the local and underground by connecting and uplifting those around her through parties and her Perfect Location imprint. Her releases have appeared on SF's Jacktone, True Indigo, Schmer, and Chicago's Identity Spectrum Records among others.

This current edition we are honored to welcome Exhouse, tenderly conducting with exacting precision into a haze filled dream state that swirls in between ambient melodic chambers and cavernous declines of basement dub techno resonance with uplifting bursts of blissful fantasy 90s warehouse memories. A DJ, writer, designer, and event organizer, Lychee runs Spontaneous Affinity, a monthly mix and interview series, annual zine, and occasional event platform focused on how dancefloors have shaped artists. Currently based in Brooklyn, they grew up as a DJ and frequent dancefloor inhabitant in the clubs, backyards, and basements of Boston. With sets ranging from dreamy sunrises to corporeal peak time techno to ambient explorations, they gravitate most toward psychedelic, prismatic techno - sometimes escaping, sometimes transcending, and sometimes connecting back to the body.

I first discovered Lychee a while ago via their mixes on two of my favourite series: @sure_thing and @daisychain_podcast. I am always inspired by their ability to put together a stunning set with breadth and depth, always leaving me eager to dig in a new direction. 

Alongside curating the mix and interview series @spontaneousaffinity Lychee has been busy playing a steady schedule of gigs, and their Maybe mix is a wonderful encapsulation of hard and fast dance floor energy ranging from moody broken techno to euphoric drum and bass. Central American born Silent Servant has performed worldwide in clubs from LA, Berlin to Osaka. A chance meeting with Karl O'Conner in 1999 would establish a friendship that would open the door to the Sandwell District label in 2006. Silent Servant's sound is a reinterpretation of early '80s post-punk electronics, paired with the deep, metallic sounds of Basic Channel and Downwards.

"It's the Celtic holiday that Halloween spawns from. It was the loop point, the new year. Ancient people dealt with grey areas in strange ways, the change between years caused this loose period existing between the end and beginning. This is where it gets interesting: they believed dimensions were colliding in a sort of interdimensional crosstalk, where the planes of the living and the dead were touching, so the dead could walk the earth. A way to convene with your ancestors, and a great reason to burn fires and scare your friends and neighbors. There's way more to it, most of it can't be written, it can only be felt, which is usually elusive but somehow easy at this time of year."
 
The original recurring party for Interdimensional Transmissions is Samhain, celebrating the ancient Celtic holiday that acknowledges the loop point of time, and the origin of IT. Had there not been Covid-19 the plan killer, we would have had the 20th anniversary of this party in Detroit, with Eris Drew headlining. As it stood, we celebrated Samhain XX with an over the top stream celebrating so many facets that we find fascinating, a place for total immersion into interesting music and cutting edge thoughts for a whole weekend at our favorite time of year. This was broadcast continuously for over 30 hours on October 31 — November 1, 2020. 
 
If the world is going to burn, this is what we want to hear, who we want to be surrounded by. Thank you so much to every artist for sharing your art and musical vision. And thank you to Jim Gibbons (AVS) for mastering all the audio, Andrew Charles Edman for the psychedelic visuals and all the art layers from Amber Gillen.
