Birds on Consigment mix - reggae jump up dancehall late 80s jamaican popular music

As it's my birthday weekend, I thought I'd upload a heartfelt mix, well it's definitely heartfelt to me, as this is my first love in terms of era's in House music. 2003, 2004, 2005.. all the way up to 2008/9. I wasn't old enough to be at Red Carpet or Don't Be Shy, but for this mix I put myself behind the decks at one of those parties. Hope you enjoy this mix as much as I did recording it!

The London-born, Leeds-based Kessie steps up in the first Rhythmic Culture podcast of '24, curated by Mia Koden. Over the course of an hour, you can expect "a lot of cerebral & loopy techno doing what she loves the most- steadily building tension and intensity."

Mia Koden: "When Brendan reached out I thought of Kessie straight away. I caught her playing at Nik Nak’s Dub Sirens event in Leeds earlier this year and loved the way she fluidly weaved a high energy fusion of bassy breaksy bits. We then bonded over Ghanaian food and Croydon(!). I’ve listened to several of her mixes since and trust me she’s also got serious deep selection across electro, dubby chuggers etc."

Mia Koden: "Samba is one of the most consistently fire producers I've followed over the years. He's chiefly known for his dubstep tracks but truth is he's actually a sonic chameleon, carving out dark but vibrant bangers with stand out melodies and sound choice regardless of what genre he touches. His DJ sets definitely reflect this: Saw a recent set over the summer for DEEP MEDi (a label he's dropped some anthems on) and it was packed with great selection and interesting moments."
