Luis:&nbsp;Hey thank you, I'm so glad to be here.
&nbsp;
John:&nbsp;Well Luis what is the most exciting thing that you&rsquo;ve experienced in the last seven days?
&nbsp;
Luis:&nbsp;You know one of the&nbsp;almost&nbsp;exciting things&nbsp;that's&nbsp;been happening for me in the last week has been, we are on the verge of launching a program for podcasters which will really help the business and really help a lot of podcasters take their podcasts and actually create a formal business out of that show.
&nbsp;
John:&nbsp;That sounds great, I&rsquo;m actually a member of that Facebook group and I&rsquo;m telling you just bring so much value to the group and so I'm excited to see what you come out with.
&nbsp;
Luis:&nbsp;Definitely, thank you so much.
&nbsp;
John:&nbsp;And Luis, what does your family life look like?
&nbsp;
Luis:&nbsp;My family life is&hellip; I really believe that family are the people that matter to you, so you know families isn't just the people that I grew up with, my family is my partner. We are not&nbsp;married&nbsp;but we are in a committed intimate relationship. My best friend, a few different best friends, my dog who lives with us. So I mean you know it kind of depends on how you explain that right, cause a lot of people think family life is the person you live with and if you have children, that&rsquo;s your family and then people you grew up with, but I really like to broaden that just because I personally&hellip;&nbsp;&nbsp;I was adopted and so my family is very different than what most people have.
&nbsp;
John:&nbsp;And we're in the market for buying a dog, so what kind of dog do you have?
&nbsp;
Luis:&nbsp;I have a miniature schnauzer.
&nbsp;
John:&nbsp;Okay.
&nbsp;
Luis:&nbsp;He&rsquo;s&nbsp;incredibly, he is carry-on size, so you can take him anywhere you want.
&nbsp;
John:&nbsp;That&rsquo;s great. So I like to give people the background on our guest and I&rsquo;ve known you for a little while now and you have been through just an interesting story, so if you don&rsquo;t mind just take us through your story and tell us about where you have hit trauma along that path and tell us how you overcame it.
&nbsp;
Luis:&nbsp;Well definitely, my life really begins since day one, kind of begins with trauma. And I think a lot of people&rsquo;s lives could begin that way. So I'm originally from Medellin Colombia and I came in&nbsp;United States&nbsp;in 1991. I was born in 1983 and if anybody kind of knows history of the world or history of&nbsp;United States&nbsp;and&nbsp;cocaine for example&nbsp;was primarily being exported from Columbia specifically [Medillin [00:03:29.19] into the United States during the 80s and 90s and some kind of a byproduct of that trauma that I experienced is definitely byproduct of that historical past that Columbia has. So when I was born my mom was a cocaine addict; she was alcoholic and spent most of her time pursuing drugs, even though she had two kids. She would leave us locked inside the house most of the day and then would come home and do&nbsp;drugs.
&nbsp;
And I would say that&rsquo;s pretty traumatic for any child to have to experience. And then she was murdered when I was five years old, for what I believe was some drug debts. So then when I was five, I was left homeless and kind of living on the streets of Columbia. When I was eight years old I was adopted, came to the United States. A few years later my parents here in the US got divorced. And so really a lot of trauma around family and trying to understand what community was.
&nbsp;
That definitely traumatized me and so my belief for a long time was that intimate relationships are painful and that they are hard and that they produced pain for other people. And I had a goal that I wanted to help people and I wanted to be someone who could add value and service to the world. So I pursued the life of trying to become a monk for close to a decade and went to a Catholic school, thinking maybe...
