Ashram Sun’, Surya Botofasina's much-anticipated album follows his hugely acclaimed debut ‘Everyone’s Children’ and his first offering since his contribution to ‘New Blue Sun’ and global touring alongside André 3000. It is an ode to Surya’s upbringing and musical teachings in the tradition of Swamini Turiyasangitananda - aka Alice Coltrane, by the spiritual jazz colossus Herself, at Her Sai Anantam Ashram in California. ‘Ashram Sun’ is a deep listening, spiritual masterpiece with close collaborators Carlos Niño and Nate Mercereau, incl. contributions from the high priestesses of music Angel Bat Dawid, Mia Doi Todd, MidnightRoba and Radha Botofasina.

Our Cottage To Across The Stream

The title L(C)OVE(I)D is a portmanteau blending two words, “LOVED” and “COVID.” Since the COVID-19 pandemic has changed many aspects of people’s daily lives, L(C)OVE(I)D depicts how the pandemic has left some cracks in our family relationships. There are two 5-note main themes:  LOVED: A F# D# E D and COVID: C F# D# B D. 
L(C)OVE(I)D comprises 3 sections. The lyrical LOVED theme is stated in Section 1 in 4/4 time, emphasizing a strong 4-against-3 relationship in both hands. The COVID theme opens Section 2 in 19/16 time and is followed by its 45 variants. Section 3 depicts how human relationships changed in the post-COVID-19 era.
