Cem Karaca ( born April 5, 1945 in Istanbul's Bakırköy district, † February 8, 2004 in Istanbul) was a Turkish rock musician and a representative of the Anadolu rock movement.

he was accused of inciting the population against the government with his songs. After the military coup in 1980, an arrest warrant was issued against him and he was deprived of his citizenship. Since 1979 Karaca has therefore lived in exile in the Federal Republic of Germany, namely in Cologne. He also sang in German, first from autumn 1980 a poem by Nâzım Hikmet - Kiz Cocugu (Turkish spelling: Kız Çocuğu, title in You are afraid of our songs: Little Dead Girl): Karaca interpreted the German-language verses on the piano solo in alternation with his friend, manager, arranger and bandleader/musician Ralf Mähnhöfer, who sang the Turkish version of the song in a duet with guitarists Fehiman Uğurdemir and Paul Shigihara or accompanied by the band Anatology.

It was not until 1987 that Cem Karaca was granted amnesty by the then Turkish Prime Minister Turgut Özal and was able to return to his homeland.

In relation to his work in German exile, his German-language album Die Kanaken, released in 1984, is remarkable, in which he primarily addressed the situation of Turkish guest workers and immigrants in Germany with songs like Mein Deutscher Freund or It came to people. Also worth mentioning is the film music that he wrote a year earlier for the WDR television series Our Neighbors, the Baltas, which was broadcast on German television.

Mitten in der weltenweiten Corona-Krise findet sich in Deutschland und Österreich eine neue Straßenbewegung. 

Die Zusammensetzung dieser sog. „Hygiene-Demos“ bilden einen klassenübergreifenden Zusammenschluss von Liberalen bis hin zu Neonazis. 
Dazwischen tummeln sich Impfgegner*innen, Hippies, Anhänger*innen von wahnsinnigen Influencern und D-Promis. 
Auf den ersten Blick geht es gegen die Aufweichung von Grundrechten während der aktuellen Pandemie. Doch die wilde Mischung von „Corona-Rebellen“ verbindet vor allem die antisemitische Vorstellung, dass eine bestimmte Gruppe, die kosmopolitisch und global vernetzt ist (WHO, Wissenschaft usw.), die weltweite Pandemie steuert und gezielt einsetzt. Der tatsächliche Missbrauch der Pandemie zum Abbau von Grundrechten, wie die weitere Einschränkungen des Asylrechtes oder des Arbeitsschutzes, ist dagegen kaum Thema. Und mit Gesellschaftskritik hat das nichts zu tun.

Kein Wunder, dass die selbsternannten Rebellen faktisch die Rückendeckung von einem Bündnis aus Industrieverbänden und der Springer-Presse bekommen. „Kippt die Stimmung?“ fragt die bürgerliche Presse scheinheilig auf Seite 1, während sie den Haufen, wie damals Pegida, fleißig hochschreibt und ihm direkt eine öffentliche Prominenz einräumt, auf den linke Bewegungen lange warten müssen. Dabei ist die von den Anti-Lockdown-Demos geforderte „Rückkehr zur wirtschaftlichen Normalität” mittlerweile längst beschlossene Sache. Damit droht eine zweite, tödlichere Covid-19-Infektionswelle. Das zeigt: Die vermeintlichen Rebellen sind da vor allem eins: nützliche Handlanger für Kapital und Wirtschaftsstandort. Und wer ausdrücklich „weder links noch recht sein“ will, ist meistens rechts und steht immer auf Seite der Herrschenden.

So schön es wäre, wenn es sich dort um die „richtige“ Unzufriedenheit handeln würde, die sich nur an die falsche Adresse richtet – dem ist leider nicht so. Konkreter Widerstand gegen die Aufweichung von Grundrechten und soziale Ungerechtigkeit, 
wie #LeaveNoOneBehind und #Pflegenotstand, ist gerade während der Pandemie nötig – die antimodernen Aufmärsche von Esoterikern, Faschisten und Frustrierten sind es nicht. Im Gegenteil: sie wirken zu allem Überfluss noch als Türöffner für die AfD in neue Milieus. So schafft man das Kunststück, angesichts einer mehrfachen Krise des Kapitalismus reaktionärer als die Regierung zu sein.

Es ist höchste Zeit, dem wöchentlich anwachsenden Wahnsinn bundesweit auf der Straße etwas entgegen zu setzen. Die antifaschistische Linke muss jetzt solidarische Alternativen zu diesem Wahn aufzeigen und gegen die Versammlungen selbst aktiv werden. Sei es auf der Straße, im Netz oder im Alltag dieser neuen Krisennormalität. Recherchiert, protestiert und greift ein!

Nationalismus ist keine Alternative
