Catat Nada - "Cinta Melulu" (Jojga) - Old jogja electro-chiptune core band covering Efek Rumah Kaca's "Cinta Melulu", a song that apparently was a response to the large number of cheeesy Malay love songs that flooded Indonesia radio a few years ago. The chorus ref: "Lagu cinta melulu...." - kinda translates as.... "Damn, always another love song." Catat nada also featured Lintang Radittya as a member, whose passion now is making effect pedals and synthesizers. Catat nada also have another song in which the lyric mukamu biru (your face is blue) is repeated almost nonstop for 3 minutes.....

Anjing Dub - "Naek Kuda"  (Bandung) – don’t personally know any members of this band, but my friend told me to listen to it and I really like it

Jingga - "Tentang Aku" – My friend Cici introduced me to this old school 90s hit, apparently this band was only active for two years in the mid-90's and only released one album.

Sisi Tipsi - "Alkohol" (Jakarta) – I saw this band play at Jakarta's art school when I first moved to here, this song is like the anthem of my and many of my friends' lifestyles.... The chorus lyrics translate as "Alcohol, you're bad but tasty. Alcohol, can also be used for light wounds, Alcohol, although you're bad, you're still tasty. Alcohol, although your tax is high, you still remain a solution." Yes genius, some of the poetry of the original Indonesian is lost.


Frigi Frigi - "Partikel Kita Sama" –(Jakarta). I don't know anything about this band, I think the main lyric is saying "We are of the same particles", which is pretty sexy

Intenna - "Flowery" (Malang) I saw Intenna play at 9pm at an art and music festival in early 2015 up in the mountains behind Malang.  I hadn't really slept properly or been sober for three days, and I was a bit on the end of my tether, and I stood in the rain watching this band and felt re-energized and uplifted. They released their first album "Helter Skelter" this year.
