I CONFESS
I Confess was inspired by a statue of Mary Magdalene and the sonic worlds of artists like Sevdaliza and FKA twigs. Dora wanted to lend her voice to Mary to defend herself, because even today, women are judged by outdated ideas. ALFONSE
Bristol-based Alfonse is best known for the catchy electronic tunes he makes using ‘80s keyboards. His YouTube channel, where he demonstrates how he builds tracks on these cult objects, has been steadily growing. But aside from the instrumental keyboard tracks, his back catalogue spans more than a decade and includes singles featuring top vocalists from Bristol. Red Door

The British Museum has 140 Egyptian mummies and coffins under its roof. Guards hear strange noises and feel unexplained draughts at night, they told news media earlier this year. A caretaker talks to the mummies when she handles them – according to ancient Egyptian customs, it keeps them alive. What would the deceased inhabitants of the museum say if they could speak?

Bone Collector

From an attic overlooking Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol, Dora Lachaise produces dark and otherworldly music. After her Danny Elfman-esque debut single Bone Collector, which was picked up by BBC Bristol and Amazing Radio USA, Lachaise dives into electronica for her second single ‘I Confess’, out on Friday 5 March 2021.
