Hi, this is my last set played for the opening of Rave-olution who took place in Lyttleton last April.
My last set before going back to Europe for a while, that was a great night, we are so proud of the outcome!! The idea for this set was to start with something groovy then progressively going to something more techno from the 90's; I tried to change the mood during the set to keep it interesting, I also played a HI NRG track from the 80'S. Hardware was Traktor S4 Mk3 + F1. Hope you will enjoy it!!

  I hope, you have time because the real description is so loooong that you will be bored and might fall asleep; It's not too late to stop here, but if you continue, well, good luck!

  Hi, my name is Dorian, originally from France, currently live in New Zealand. I love hi-fi music and speakers, but my journey as dj started because a dear friend (DJ Fyrwood) introduced me / trojan horse me* to it. The irony is, now that I can play, we are not living in the same country and we can't play together.

  I'm a Traktor guy who started playing with an S8, then S8+D2, and now S4 Mk3+F1 (also got S4 Mk2 for travels). I can play on Pioneer and Denon, but I really like the stems and samples implementation of Traktor. Software wise, there's no comparison: Traktor is Traktor!

  About my music taste; I like indie, progressive, a bit of minimal, techno, trance and also feel unconditional love for music from the 80s and 90s.
  My favourite Dj is Gerd Janson, I really enjoy the groovy and uplifting atmosphere he creates. I also like Adana Twins, Enrico Sangiuliano, Eric Prydz for his show, and Adam Beyer for Drumcode.

  Sleeping yet ?? Can't hear anything, so I carry on...

  It was difficult to play gigs at the start, so with my good friend, Maia Katz, we decided to make our own gigs; so we could play.
  It's been great because we’ve learned things from different points of view and not just djing. Currently, we run two different parties: Duck Therapy and Rave-olution. Duck Therapy, usually done at night, focuses on having fun and not to stress too much organization wise. The Rave-olution is more like an afternoon party that extends into the night, we always try different venues, and we want to embrace the rave culture: focus on the music!

  Djing is a journey, just like when you learn a new activity, you start with the basics, make mistakes, feel frustrated, but with practice, you would feel more comfortable and start to focus on finding your "mixing style". I would say that my guideline is a progress in bpm and subtle change in genre along my sets. I want to create an engaging atmosphere where the emotions are balanced and don't reach the extremes.

  All right! Intro done, let's continue with the main text (it's a joke?? Hum... not sure) 

  My goal as a DJ is to create music sessions that meet my personal standards; it means a tidy and engaging set for a modest crowd during a small festival or in a club, and of course, to have fun!
  *Interest into djing is an opportunity to understand more about music, create a set with the music you like and not waiting for the next set of famous djs; It's great, but it also bring an analytical / critical mind and you end up always preferring your own stuffs because "God help thoses who help themselves". 

  My setup allows me to "sublime" my music selection and improvise on the go, so I'm not interested in records or music production: I think that there are plenty of samples and stems to play with before going down the rabbit hole of production.

  Most of my mixes posted here are either recorded at home or sets played at gigs; I'll make a description for every set (longer than this one, of course!).
  I probably said it all, so if you made it until here, I hope that my sets make you move, enjoy!
