Marcel Dettmann's debut on the Dekmantel imprint  remixing two Vakula (aka Vedomir) tracks. So, what else to expect but forward thinking techno from the man who has been widely regarded as one of the genres most respected DJs and producers? Keywords are 'stripped, dark, raw, hypnotizing and dystopian' - we could almost say its business as usual from this long-time Berghain-resident who has remixed for Scuba, Modeselektor, Trus'Me and Junior Boys in the past, all the while releasing on zeitgeist-defining labels like Ostgut Ton, Music Man and 50Weapons.

Contemporary techno in optima forma, Dettmann's trademark treatment hits Vedomir's 'Music Suprematism' quite relentlessly here, building on shattered vocals and a seemingly endless full-throttle bassline. His second remix 'Dreams' shows the German is the undisputed master of subtle yet pounding techno. Relying heavily on the bass, the interplanetary funk comes from a hypnotizing deep and dubby synth groove. Classic.

A1. & A2. Cutting edge London based DJ producer Francesco Mami and "Duel" launches their Ibadan Records debut with super track "Zed". In the studio Francesco Mami hooks up with his comrades "Duel" and execute their production skills and in addition Jerome Sydenham enters the Frey to get down on the mix. The result is a healthy dose of avant-garde Deep House on one hand and a virile dose of Tech house on the other. This DJ friendly romper is a sure banker!

B1.   Jerome Sydenham enters the deep Techno realm in true Vanguard style unleashing "Dogon". Sparse vocals and tinges of Acid and fat kicks shape this underground piece and put it right in the pocket.

B2.  "Mirror Lines" is a beautifully crafted contempo Deep House track effortlessly combining a spirit of happiness with energetic resolve. This New York meets Detroit flavor is the brainchild of Jerome Sydenham and Amsterdam Techno/House superstar Shindoe, who is also making her Ibadan Records debut. Enjoy!

System Of Survival are back on Get Physical’s decks with remixes from Orlando Voorn, Brian Cid & Andrew Grant and DOS of their dusty instant-house-classic ‘Kutting’. Featuring Vhelade, one of Italy’s fastest growing singers, jumping from Eurovision to underground house between a busy performance schedule.  First up is Holland’s man of many faces, Orlando Voorn. He takes the track into a kind of loose, free-jazz affair, holding back on the House ‘boom boom’ and opting for the frantic elegance of a live jazz session. On the other side of the spectrum, Brian Cid & Andrew Grant take things deeper, much deeper. Subby kicks and dramatic synthwork turn the track into a night-time thriller. DOS forays into acid territory. Merging a bent and crooked bassline with a dry beat and those highly charged vocals, DOS creates a fresh take on the Original Mix - which we’ve also included, because: of course.

Joy Orbsion is someone we have a long and fruitful relationship with here at Dekmantel. He is, and always has been, a pure embodiment of UK dance music. His sound is steeped in English musical history (often explicitly in the form of sampled monologues) but also very much makes a new history of its own. He’s had countless underground hits from his definitive post-dubstep breakthrough ‘Hyph Mngo’ to his peak time tech tools with Boddika, and each one marks a mini reinvention of his style. What ties them all together, though, is O’Grady’s unique penchant for blending garage, bass, funky, house, techno and old school jungle into his own fresh concoctions. 

The two hour podcast he has served up here -as a perfect warm up to our festival this weekend- is split into two parts. Says the artist himself, “the first half is basically a way of showcasing producers that are doing great things at the moment and is completely made up of new, unreleased music, and the second half is basically winding things down with a load of stuff from my record collection. A come down, of sorts.” Starting with a spoken word snippet from his jungle playing uncle Ray Keith, the mix is initially atmospheric and moody, with sleek and stripped back drums and smeared synths making for a heady and intimate mood. After picking up through skewed bass patterns and skeletal techno, the second half seduces with elegiac rhythms, jazz selections and spoken word tracks as well as delicious soul sounds, reggae and stoned broken beat.  The results show exactly where Orbison is at musically, as well as offering an insight into where he has come from.

The sun had risen and it was time for the last set on the Warrior's side, it was time for MENTAL. Rebolledo and Dramian created an energetic hypnotic journey through a wide range of emotions. A morning to remember... It was one for the books...

DOS; the loveable Italian duo who have blazed a trail from Riccione to Ibiza and across Europe thanks to their astounding DJ sets, their killer productions and their constantly evolving live show. Comprised two men, “Frankie” Mami and Gian Piero “GP”, DOS held a residency at the mighty Cocorico in Italy, have also been a regular fixture at Circo Loco at DC10 in Ibiza and contribute to labels such as BPitch Control, Get Physical and Ibadan Records Their open-minded approach and thirst for knowledge and live performance has laid the foundations for a bright future, and they continue on their merry adventures around Europe... 

While studying in Milan, Frankie became more and more involved in techno and formed a tight bond with his partner in crime, Gian Piero, with whom he started DOS in 2006. From hanging out in the studio to conceiving their back- to-back partnership, the twosome picked up a residency at the legendary Cocorico, where they played twice a month from 2007 up until 2009 in the Pyramid room, eventually evolving their performance into a DJ/live show hybrid. 

Through GP’s friendship with fellow Italians System Of Survival, DOS were soon spending a lot of time in Ibiza, eventually landing themselves a highly coveted residency at the hugely influential Circo Loco party at DC10. The pinnacle of their career so far and a move that really put them on the map as a force to be reckoned with and demonstrated their unique capabilities as both as a back-to-back DJ duo and a live performance outfit. Yeah, they got the skillz alright! 

Their friendship with SOS also led to a fantastic remix on Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control. The rework of ‘Nihil’ was a perfect example of how the guys can inject deep, groovy vibes into their productions while also keeping your body moving – a crucial aspect of their music. It must also be said that, thanks to their experience in the studio, they have been able to cultivate a scintillating live show, which works in tandem with their DJ sets, providing a unique experience for both DOS themselves and their audience. 

2015 brought them an amazing experience: DOS performed at Robot Heart during Burning Man 2015, definitely a life changing experience for them.
2016 is releases time: a driving techno remix for their mates System Of Survival released on Get Physical and V.A. vinyl with Ibadan Records.

DOS it’s a project that excites both men greatly; they have a close musical bond an they have a close musical bond and an understanding of one another that is almost telepathic. At the same time they encourage nothing but positive vibes, fun, laughter and good times – within their friendship and on the dance floor.
