Ten Paces From Death

We've had requests for a recording of this version for years at shows, and finally got one worthy of the live energy it creates.  This "Hunter / Paid Dues / Organ Grinder" mashup began as a Buddy Peace & Dan Le Sac live arrangement, got reworked by the new live band and fitted w/ a hellfire outtro, and finally resulted in this recording, performed in front of Boston hardcoah crowd, no less!

Audio is from B. DOLAN's sold out show at the Middle East last November with CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE.  The musicians featured here are ADAM SCHNEIDER on guitar, DAN THE GERMAN on backing tracks & Voyager, and BRAD CAETANO on drums.  

B. DOLAN will be touring throughout 2014 in support of HOUSE OF BEES VOL. 3 (due out this summer) and an official LP slated for release in the fall.  All of this begins TOMORROW NIGHT in DENVER, followed by shows in ALBUQUERQUE, DENTON TX and a March 14th Showcase at SXSW alongside Sage Francis, Wheelchair Sports Camp and more. A cosmic event so minuscule and rapid that it is unsure as to whether it even occurred at all. This was the precursor to the formation of String Theory. A group and its self titled album comprised of Epidemic's Hex One and Swedish beat maker Boom Bappin' Zombie Darney. Only outside the realms of a structured paradigm can such a happening even begin to be analyzed. So too only under these conditions can it be formed. With concepts ranging from the abstract to the concrete, this anomaly in space time, this rift in the conscious fabric of reality, this naked singularity attempts to answer the basic human question: who are we really? The ambiguity of the universe's many laws is what drives this question, as every soul on this plane is searching for their own personal theory of everything. We ride it's intergalactic currents, weaving between supposed realities and lucid dreams, only to reminisce on how beautiful it all used to be. A graceful marriage between multilayered resonance and the seemingly forgotten art of rap. The inception of this body of work blurs the notion of identifying it as an album, as it is
simply a juncture made possible by infinitely specific circumstances, without which, String Theory would never have existed at all.

If we are a simulation, then in the ways that matter to us... we are real enough.

“Money on Synthetic Orchards 2.0”:
The lyric maps a world where wealth isn’t grown in nature but engineered in hidden, high-tech “orchards” — systems of finance, policy, and control designed to bear fruit for the few. It exposes how bankers and power brokers cultivate profit through synthetic means: algorithms, loopholes, and global deals that look clean on the surface but are rooted in exploitation. Across its verses, it contrasts the organic imagery of orchards with the cold circuitry of manufactured growth, calling out hypocrisy, systemic inequality, and the moral cost of profit built without soil, sunlight, or integrity.
