As a prelude to the upcoming Soul:ution Room Two takeover on Friday 16th May, label boss Marcus Intalex and one of Manchester’s most reliable renegade emcees, DRS, have bumped consciousness and put together this, their ‘Mid Mic Crisis’ mix. Regular sparring partners in clubs the world over, DRS’ trademark measured Mancuian flow rides perfectly atop on Intalex’s soulful selection with his baritone delivery sitting sweetly and filling out the dynamic range of the rolling selections which reportedly feature, in some form, material from DRS’ forthcoming second album, Mid Mic Crisis.

Basically it’s a glorious and specifically tailored 62 minute mixtape showcase of DRS’ potency as a host, an emcee and a vocalist. But it comes mixed by Intalex which more than hints at the level of quality it contains... two of Manchester's finest in sterling form.

When was the last time you listened to an actual ‘mixtape’? You probably think of one of the many mixes inhabiting our digital social spheres, which you might give a quick click or a fast listen. Dutch Drum and Bass connoisseurs Lenzman & Dan Stezo go back in time with the launch of their ‘Soul Tape’, an actual 60 minute cassette tape meant for the discerning Drum and Bass lover.

The Soul Tape is a limited give-away. The hand-crafted package comes in a hard-cover box, with additional T-shirt and a variety of stickers - all with custom artwork by Team Blazin'. Besides that The Soul Tape is a ‘cool’ and fresh (but hyper-traditional) take on the mix-format, it stems from Lenzman and Dan Stezo's 90s ritual of making Hiphop tapes for each other in school.

The Soul Tape exhibits tracks from the world’s finest Drum and Bass artists, blended by Lenzman with Dan Stezo’s narrative slang and distinct voice-over. As a combination they have worked together since 2003, and recently increased their collaborative spirit both on stage and on record. 2014 saw their first release ‘Move & Focus’ together as a combination on the esteemed Metalheadz imprint as part of Lenzman's debut album 'Looking At The Stars.

Lenzman’s tremendous success in his genre and his tour the force around the world doesn't keep him from maintaining a close circle. Long time confidant Team Blazin' adds the artwork in the form of handwritten calligraphy which articulates the Hiphop aesthetics, the three artists’ connecting factor and their shared stylistic background.

The Soul Tape is not for sale, as it is an initiative out of love for the craft, the music and their heritage. The 50 limited edition tapes will be given away to fans over a period of time. As it's holiday season, starting with 10 units via a Facebook “Share to Win” competition. Head over to the Metalheadz Facebook page and you might win a copy of The Soul Tape.

Welcome back everyone, let's get into episode 331 of The Everyday Junglist Podcast!!

Thank you Brandy Violet for your mix that we featured for episode 330!

For episode 331, we feature a mix from Redline!

Before we get to the mix, I would like to highlight some tracks from Redline that I would think all of you should have: Dance Off, Ere Dis, and God Bless, trust me, I could choose more, but this will give you a good start with this man's body of work!

Redline's mix is a surgical and wicked display of quicking mixing, featuring his own tunes, new tunes, classic jungle tracks, classic dnb rollers, amens, etc, this mix runs the gamut and is so HYPE, don't trust me, check out the track list!!

Let's met our selektah, badmon, Redline:

Having been into Jungle / Drum & Bass from a young age at school after hearing tracks such as Shy FX, Original Nutta, Omni Trio, Renegade Snares and LTJ Bukem, Horizons it didn't take long for Redline to start hitting some big raves back in 97/98.

He went to places like Sanctuary and Bagley's to nights like Helter Skelter, One Nation, United Dance, and Slammin Vinyl, it was here that he got a propa taste for the music. 

Around 99/2000, he got his first set of decks and learned how to dj, he played various nights in and around Bedfordshire and London.

In 2013/14 he starting messing around with production and in 2014/15, he signed his first tracks. He has gone on to sign tracks for labels such as Kevlar, Original Breed, Evolution Records, Distjointed Textures, Dutty Bass Audio, and DJ Hybrid's Deep In The Jungle.

With loads of stuff in the pipeline and releases forthcoming, he is definitely one to keep an eye on.
