- i did not produce this. i know this account is mainly for me learning how to produce, but i actually wrote this song on a youtube beat back in like march (2024) & i stumbled across it a couple days ago and wanted to rerecord it to measure my growth. the og recording is really really bad. this was more so vocal mixing practice.
- this is still not where i want it. the mix isn’t the best & also i don’t like the last line in the second verse, but, again, i’m just rerecording what i wrote in march. i didn't rlly change anything.
- even though this is not where i want it, i still think it sounds nice. lot of tweaking and tweaking and tweaking. which i guess is all music production is.
- i am TRAPPED in this “headphone music” box. hard pan hard pan double vocals double vocals FORMANT SHIFTING. when will i be free….
- i love speaking in metaphors if u couldn't tell, but this song is not a metaphor and is fully 100% written about a lucid dream that someone recalled to me.
- the right harmony at the very end "the death and the birth of celestial i" is probably my favorite harmony that i've ever done :D

what did i learn:
- how to better mix double vocals. like they don’t sound like they’re on top of each other in the middle, they actually sound like they are in their respective ears.
-mixing in headphones is cool and good, but i have to make sure that shit is legible when played without headphones.

critiques:
- i hate producer tags so much, especially then they don't even match the vibe of the beat, and especially when they say words. shoutout this producer though. i just wish i could play guitar like this.
- i've been told that my lyrics are undiscernible and i agree. i want to learn how to get a clear mix, especially with all the effects and plug-ins i use on my vocals.
- a lot of vocal takes could stand to be rerecorded, but #lazy
- also a lot of vocals takes, and i guess this is the thing when it comes to doubling ur vox, could stand to have their timing adjusted, but i was too lazy to go in and slice shit up.
- i love vocal transformer/formant shifting (obviously), but it’s so annoying that it makes me sound like a robot. i have a raspier voice and when it shakes, the transformer picks up on that which can be good when used stylistically, but irritating when not.
- i am still a very monotone person when singing. one day this will change…
- mix is still not good. the version of good that lives in my head. but also it is def harder to mix with a free youtube beat that i don’t have stems for.
- in the first verse especially, my "s" sounds r so sharp. with the reverb on them. it sounds so harsh and i didnt know how to fix it ):
