Premiere: A2 - DOTT - Pricey Drive Down [MR007]

Locked-In returns with its eighth vinyl release, showcasing the talents of DOTT in a four-track EP.

The A-side opens with "Shock FM", setting the EP's tone.  DOTT's masterful sound design is fully displayed, building tension and release through intricate percussion. The track's progression is sure to captivate dancefloors and headphone listeners alike.

"The Helper Returns" follows, diving deeper into atmospheric territory. Swirling synths intertwine with a driving bassline, evoking vast, subaqueous landscapes. The track's subtle evolution reveals new sonic details with each listen.

Flipping to the B-side, "A Bit of Dis & Dat" presents a more stripped-back approach. Its minimalist structure allows each carefully placed element to shine, from crisp hi-hats to a rumbling low-end. This is DJ material to maintain energy while adding depth to their sets.

The EP closes with "Sine Bass Runs Deep." Here, undulating rhythms and shimmering top-end create a sense of constant motion, perfect for those early morning hours when the dancefloor is locked in a collective trance.

We are delighted to welcome Thai star DOTT to our mix series. Having blazed a trail across Asia, the More Rice label co-founder has become one of the hottest names in electronic music. From his base in Bangkok, DOTT crisscrosses Asia’s finest festivals and clubs that in the last few months have taken him to Vietnam, Mongolia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and China. As travelled as he is, DOTT is also a pivotal member of Thailand’s own Fly To The Moon Festival. DJ, producer and co-founder of the More Rice collective, DOTT is building a reputation far beyond his hometown of Bangkok. Well-respected on the SE Asia scene for over a decade, in recent years with a relentless releases on both vinyl and digital labels in Europe and the US as well as overseas touring have introduced international audiences to his highly modern take on underground dance music.
 
With a DOTT production you’re never quite sure where you’ll end up. Tripping grooves and complex emotion take precedent over genre conventions: deep house may reveal a subtly dark edge, while a minimal cut can unfurl into the brightest of colours. Moods range from warm and analogue to futuristic sci-fi, but the attention given to basslines and groove remains a constant. Behind the decks, DOTT stays true to his musical personality by foregrounding his own unreleased material alongside favourites by other producers. He has translated years of experience on the Bangkok circuit to the international stage, from clubs like Hoppetosse (Berlin), Bret (Amsterdam), Folklor (Lausanne), Tag (Chengdu), Savage (Hanoi), Modeci (Seoul) and his home ground Never Normal (Bangkok) to festivals including Houghton (UK), The Air House (South Korea), Wonderfruit (Thailand), Equation (Vietnam), Epizode (Vietnam) and the Montreux Jazz Festival (CH).
 
He has played alongside the likes of Craig Richards, Sonja Moonear, Dj Masda, Binh, Vera, Roman Flügel, Maayan Nidam, Dandy Jack, Thomas Melchior, Z@P, Alexi Delano and Eric Volta to name but a few.

DOTT is one of the three co-founders of the More Rice collective, who run a vinyl-only label and specialist dance music record store in Bangkok. Their goal is to support upcoming talents in Asia and connect them to international artists around the world.
