"We are Monologue, long-time friends and collaborators Aroma Nice and Earl Grey, and this is our new EP, Acid Settee. These tunes are the fruits of a collaborative tug of war between the two of us, over the course of one English summer. Pretty much all the music here has been done remotely, starting with the editing of the other guy’s hardware jams, trading stems and samples, putting a different spin on something and sending it back just a little bit more broken, or just completely remixing something previously unfinished. Our tastes as individuals don’t always align so we’re proud to have been able to agree on something for long enough to compromise and get these beats finished and out there to find listeners. Hope you dig it.

Previously I had written an entire album that I had completely lost [ technological pains ]. This album was written in a bit of a despair trying to regain what I had lost only to come up with something very different and something that feels much closer to myself. The Lost and The Unfound represents a portion of my life that I will look back on as chaotic. You can feel this through the many different emotions it portrays. "With these tracks we were simply doing what we love doing - no concept, no overriding idea, no overthinking, just approaching each track based on what we felt and letting the sounds guide us. The music tells us where to go. Like most of our releases it's heavily influenced by club and dance styles with our love of metal shining through too. "When conceptual art really kicked off in the mid twentieth century, many of its protagonists were so determined to purge art of its decorative frilliness, they turned more and more towards words, or rather, lack thereof. The likes of Duchamp, Dalí, Breton, Reinhardt, each uncensored by the rational mind, made moves towards the absurd and the sublime, with varying degrees of success and failure alike.

In this piece, what one finds is the artist attempting to convey a number of things, and asking a number of questions of us as the listener; what do we seek in such art? In which ways are to be intellectually, spiritually and sexually fulfilled by its visceral and confrontational abandonment of conventions? Is it incongruous juxtaposition? Does it lead us as the audience to question ourselves as living breathing beings, our hopes and truths, and our benign tastes so often dictating our choice and free will?

The piece is a natural extension of surrealism, dadaism and indulgence, themselves often strange bedfellows. Elaborate and provocative in its execution, displaying a signature of insatiable curiosity, and leaving no stone unturned, it portrays the artist as a provocateur of postmodernism, mysticism, and decadence. It transgresses the elusive world of the subconscious more imaginatively than previous offerings. It's also a piece which stitches together the scraps of art and culture, politics and poetry, and science and exotica that could often be found in the Southport of the late-noughties and beyond. An extremely clever conceit; there could be any manner of things concealed within this record, but we as the listener will never know because as as soon as one opens the record, the art is destroyed, the value is lost, so we will never, ever find out.

One's most overriding sensation is that the piece feels like a shit-filled hand grenade which the artist has flung into our collective psyche. It is quite simply, a joke, and a very poor joke."

Three years ago we started publishing mixes online on wichelroede.net. As we like to work on ways to connect music with design, last year (2015) we began developing our first physical product. The result is this mixtape, a collaboration between Beatrice Dillon, Ben UFO, and wichelroede. Initial released in February of this year, the tape immediately was sold out. After a second run in April, together with the artists we’ve now decided to release both mixes online as stream and free download.

Side A is a mix by Beatrice, side B is a mix by Ben. The London residents recorded two forty-five (times two equals ninety) minute mixes which are beautifully complimentary while still surprising. Both mixes consist of an outstanding selection ranging between electronics, dub, reggae, jazz, ambient, techno, and house. The ‘sleeve’ and on body-print of the cassette tape is designed by Fallon.
