Our final podcast of 2022 showcases a sneak peal of all 15 tracks from our Various Artists Compilation. Chopped and blended together to tell a story by our talented family member Double Drop, it’s the perfect podcast to end the year with.

Double Drop began his adventure in the world of production with Hip-Hop and RnB. After taking a break from music and travelling outside Mozambique, he realised the need for a change in the music he was producing. Today, his genre of reference is Afro House: A contagious sound without limits on creativity and a fusion of styles. He has a positive spirit, and loves to enrich himself in gratitude when meeting new people as a symbol of respect and love. His aim is to instil hope and touch the soul of the listeners, beyond any race, gender or religion. A nature that is fully reflected in his music.

Everything Counts takes us on a deep-seated journey to the western coast of Africa. The coastal village
of Mbodiene is at the core and fora of this picturesque three-part series, started off by the Swiss duo’s
original mix. Half Toshka, half Chris Leon, Everything Counts render quixotic soundscapes, combining
Afro-infused rhythms, earthy percussion and tribal soul into electronic ambience, by grace of melody.
Calabria’s Matt Sawyers joins us and his longtime friends with a reinterpretation of Mbodiene. Teeming
with ethnic dreaminess and soothing progressions, Matteo Cacciola’s mix is a halcyon escape to indulge
our sonic reveries. Yielding a brusque, fiery take on the original, Mozambique’s Double Drop wraps up
MBR418 with a rawer Mbodiene - warm, impassioned and rooted in the rich, resonant grounding of our
mother continent. In this 20:54 minute flight, we dance our way to the destination, and alas, we can just
keep going there.
