The Stranger (Rozz Williams cover)

Inspired by the classic line from Stephen King's 'Pet Sematary,' this song examines the perils of returning to a destructive relationship through the metaphor of digging up a dead body. Featuring Ian Revell on vocals and some other instruments, Karl Mohr on guitar, Benjamin Mueller-Heaslip on organ, and Amanda Penner on viola. Recorded at Revolution Studios and Multibeat Studios in Toronto, with some additional production work, mixing and programming by Karl Mohr. Watch for the upcoming video directed by Steven Cerritos.

Dead is Better - radio edit

A rehearsal recording - vocals are almost inaudible but the punk energy is there in spades.  I love this song - it's like a simultaneous telling of a story from two different perspectives.  We did it at one of our first gigs and then never did it again - now it's back in the set list for 2013.

Under the earth

Formed in the spring of 2009 as part of an experimental staging of Hamlet, Double Eyelid has spent the last 5 years developing its sound and challenging audiences along the way. Driving the band are the songs and energy of singer, occasional instrument-player and charismatic oddity Ian Revell. Adding guitar grit is Karl Mohr, and floating above the fray is keyboardist Benjamin Mueller-Heaslip. While the band has found a home in Toronto's goth scene, the closest parallel is perhaps to early Roxy Music, with its tension between street level expression and high art. Other main influences include Bauhaus, Sex Gang Children, David Bowie, Edith Piaf and Christian Death. After making their MuchMusic debut in 2012 with a clip from horror auteur Steven Cerritos for "Dead is Better," the long-awaited first album "Seven Years" is finally finished and ready for a summer 2014 release.
